Personally I always just suggest start off small! I have a tiny frame so something too big would've been bad for me, and unless you can compare to other similar objects (I will clarify I am NOT advising you to stick non-toy items up there lol) you may have tried, you may have to experiment.
You can start with comparing width of toys to fingers.
