Those with Wooden dildos, I have a question for you.

Contributor: skeeterlynn skeeterlynn
When I first saw them, i wanted nothing to do with them. At all. I hate the feel of wood in my mouth, esp Popsicle stick. And I know wood in general has a tendency to absorb fluids and just get all swollen and water logged. Now, this is for just basic wood.

My question for you is, does this happen with those as well? Does it have that gross wood in your mouth making your teeth hurt just at the thought of it feel? I was wanting to try one, but not is it feels like a Popsicle stick and won't last long! haha.

They are kind of pricey for me so I won't be trying them anytime soon. Just wondering for when I do decide to spend the money.

Haven't tried them, but I assume the wood is going to be much nicer than your average popsicle stick. If there IS any issue with wooden toys absorbing fluids (and I'm not sure there is), a condom or toy cover would fix that problem (in addition to making cleanup a lot easier).

Never tried them but one would think these would be made in such a way that this would not happpen.

I haven't tried one yet but from reading reviews I know that they are sealed, so they won't absorb moisture, and have a very smooth surface.

I haven't tried them, but from what I understand, they are sealed with a non-porous coating that gives them a very high safety rating. They should not absorb any fluid or become water logged.

It's interesting to meet someone else who hates Popsicle sticks as much as I do. I always get upset going down the ice cream aisle at the store, because so many treats would be so good if they didn't have a damn stick in them!

I have the Fling, it's coated with a Lubrosity finish that is waterproof, hypo-allergenic, Phthalate-free, odorless and colorless. I haven't tried biting into the dildo, because I don't want to cause any damage to the coating, that coating is essential for keeping the wood in pristine condition. But I can assure you, a high quality wooden toy with a finish that meets USP Class IV and VI Medical Standards is a good investment, and will give you endless orgasms!

The polish I'm not as worried about. I can already see it in the photos. Thank you for the verification

My main thing is does it feel like actual wood in your mouth? I know it's higher than a popsicle stick, that was just the best example I could think of. Haha.

Like I told you, I haven't tried biting into it, aside from preserving the Lubrosity coating, I don't want to chip my teeth. I can assure you my caramel colored Fling is made with hard and dense real Mora wood. Popsicle sticks are made with thin ribbons of birch wood, there is simply no comparison.

I guess you can try biting on the wooden frame of a dining room chair, that should give you an idea of how hard a wooden dildo is.

Never tried wood for some of the reasons you described. I assume it has some kind of coating on it, but I just cannot get over the fact that wood without a coating is gross because it absorbs things and is a bacteria's house party. So while a coating of God knows what may be sufficient in keeping the wood from absorbing and of course from splintering, because I'm sure they'd be smart enough to put a coating on it to stop this from happening, I just can't forget what a wooden handled knife smells like! EW! I just am not turned on by wooden dildos and don't think I'll ever try them. I know they must be sanitary or there's no way they would be sold, surely?

I don't plan on biting it. And I know it is better quality than a Popsicle stick. I just don't like the feel of basic woods, esp in my mouth. And how they feel in my mouth make me iffy about it in there. I'm not worried about the germs cause I'm sure they have something against that since it's rated so high on the safety scale. I was mainly wondering if it feels as it is: a piece of wood in your vagina. Haha. If so, it doesn't fully interest me.

Wooden toys are coated with a polyurethane that protects them from water damage and feel nothing like untreated wood. You could, I suppose, sand a wooden toy until it has a smooth satin finish but it still wouldn't be good for the intended use.

I have wood pieces from NobEssence and Penetralia. Neither one feels like a Popsicle stick. I've not put them in my mouth, but I'm assuming they wouldn't taste that way either. Both companies coat with different glosses which make them smooth and water resistant. This stops them from getting the swollen problem that popsicle sticks have. I've washed mine a ton of times and the shape hasn't changed.

I would HIGHLY recommend wooded dildos. Wood is one of my all time favorite materials.

You're comparing unfinished wood to a wood with a very specialized finish. I've only handled the Nob Essence pieces in stores, I still haven't gotten one, but they're smooth and slick and definitely do not absorb fluids and swell.

My understanding is that the coating on them makes them water-tight. I'm planning to try to make one soon on my lathe.
