Would you rather purchase a brand new jelly dildo or would you prefer a slightly used 100% silicone dildo?

Contributor: Mr. E Mr. E
Some have posted that they would never purchase a jelly toy, while others have stated they would never purchase a used toy.

So my question is:
Would you rather purchase a brand new jelly dildo or would you prefer to purchase a slightly used 100% silicone dildo?

If you had to choose one or the other... which would it be? ...and why?

Because jelly is the worst material known to mankind? Silicone can be easily sanitized, especially if it's a dildo. So it'd be pretty much brand new afterwards, especially if it was only slightly used. Jelly, on the other hand, can't be sanitized and is just overall an awful material so who even cares if it's new or not.

I would rather use a brand new jelly with precautions (cover with a condom) than use a second hand ANYTHING. I don't care if it's able to be sterilized. I just can't wrap my head around using a used toy.

I chose silicone. I would not use it as a sex toy even though I know it would be safe. It just weirds me out on an even deeper level than germaphobia. I would surely find some way of repurposing it.

I think no matter which one I chose it would be a toy that I would have to use with a condom (for my own peace of mind), and thus not one I would use very frequently.

Silicone! I've traded toys before, so it's all good.

I have discarded all of our jelly toys - and I have bought or swapped for high-end used toys, including silicone. So I guess you can say that I put my money where my mouth is!

not in love with the used idea but jelly is just so gross that I opted for the silicone

What a tough choice! I guess I'd go for the silicone and just sanitize it.

Sorry..not buying ANY "USED" anything. However, I would WAIT and not by the Jelly (got rid of all mine) and save up for the Silicone one.

Silicone. It can be sanitized. Jelly is the WORST for dildos.

I used to LOVE my Jelly's. Now, however, having tossed them, I am TRYING to replace then with silicone, but I am having a hard time finding SAFE material ones that MOVE like the jelly did, and feel good to me.

Amazing how ANTI Jelly folks have become...when it used to be that almost all toys were either HARD PLASTIC or JELLY.

Do they have RABBIT rocks? How about multi-speed, LED lit tree bark???

It depends who's used the silicone one.

I guess you could cover both of them with a condom anyway to abate any concerns.

Plastic is fine, even for someone allergic to certain plastics like me. I've never had a reaction from it. It doesn't leak anything, it's non-porous, it'll last forever, and it's compatible with all lubricants. Plastic is quite alright with me. But I can't name one good thing about jelly besides it's "squishiness" and that's entirely subjective, not to mention other materials can be squishy, as well.

Slightly used toy. It's kind of the same principal with people-- would you not have sex with someone because they've had sex with someone else previously? If you want it, go for it. *That and some clinical trials have shown certain chemicals in jelly are really bad. Yeaaahhhh, rather have a gently used toy that a hazard*

The idea of buying a used sex toy makes me feel a little nauseous. I know it can be 100% sterilized, but not knowing the person personally that I'm getting it from would be a big deal to me. (I have no problem, however, sharing with close friends, for some reason.) But, buying a toy second hand and having NO CLUE where it came from? I just couldn't.

I'd buy a jelly toy, and just use a condom over it.

Slightly used toy for me too. I have no issue with it because it is no different then using the sanitized medical equipment at the OBGYN.

Brand new jelly with a toy cover or condom.

I have zero use for jelly toys! Ewwww yucky, yucky jelly.

Silicone is body-safe and completely sanitizible. With that said, I could never see myself actually purchasing a used toy.

New silicone really isn't that much, but even used in good condition can be OK. I would be sure to autoclave it or run it in a pressure cooker for a half an hour at 15PSI to really sterilize before use - no mere sanitizing if it came from someone else.

What a horrible choice to make. I think I'd go with sanitizing silicone.

This. I would definitely go with the 'slightly used' 100% silicone, because I could sterilize it.

Neither! If I "had" to choose one, I'd go with the silicone....but I still don't think I could use it knowing where it had been.

Yup silicone hands down. Once sterilized, it doesn't matter who had it before. But jelly is just too scary.
