Best Sex Guides?

Contributor: Machina Machina
My best guy friend in the whole world has a birthday coming up, and I'd like to get him a fun and interesting sex guide. His girlfriend recently confided in me that the sex isn't so great, but she would never say anything to him because she's just too darn sweet!

I know, I know... I tried to explain to her the importance of communication, and even shared how a little communication drastically improved my sex life recently (thanks to all of your helpful advice on EF!!).

She said she would try, but it's all so overwhelming, and she's not even sure what she wants exactly- she just lost her virginity him 6 months ago. He wasn't a virgin, but has limited experience with women, 80% of which were one night stands.

It's practically a tradition for me to buy him some kind of funny sex present, so I'd like to get him a guide on pleasing women this year. He likes reading, but I think he would get bored if he book was too clinical. I'm just looking for something that gives fun advice, and is accurate as well.

Which one of these do you think would be best?

Also, feel free to post suggestions if I didn't list your favorite book!

She Comes First is all oral. I've heard great things about The Guide to Getting It On, so I think I'd probably go with that one. The Complete Idiot's series is probably too basic, and I don't think I'd dive into Kama Sutra before mastering "regular sex" (most people associate Kama Sutra with fantastic positions, but you need to master the basics first).

Don't know anything about the Orgasms book.

She Comes First focuses on oral, but the author includes so much information about where the hot spots are and how to stimulate them that I still think it would really help - especially if he's of an analytical turn of mind.

Ian does include a lot of extra stuff, but I think that Machina would be better off getting something more general to start with - although I do hope that her friend is willing to give his partner oral.

I love female orgasms is really great. It's basic and easy to read, covers just about everything without going into deep, scientific dryness, it's light in tone, humorous and has tons of input from real people.

Thanks ScottA! She didn't say anything about him being unwilling to do anything. It really just sounded like he's a little naive. When I mentioned how much I LOVE when a guy goes down on me she said "I'm not a big fan, I just think it kind of tickles." I could be wrong, but I've never met a girl who didn't love getting oral sex. Well, I have but she has since changed her minds after getting her first round of mind blowing tongue action. Not to blame the guy though... how is he supposed to know what to do unless he's been guided by lady? So that is what I think he needs- a guide. Hopefully they can read some of it together too ( I know she's up for it), and maybe that will usher in some healthy conversations about sex.

I'd talk to him about it myself, but I was in diapers around this guy. He's like my brother. He sticks his fingers in his ears and whistles loudly when I start talking about my sexcapades.

That was my first choice, but do you think it would be interesting for a guy to read too?

I think so. I'll take another look at it tonight or tomorrow and try to see it from a guy's perspective.

I personally love the Kama Sutra! However you spell it! The positions described in the books go into detail and actually bring about a more closeness to your partner. Plus the orgasms are GREAT!

You've already got some great answers here, but I would go personally with The Guide to Getting it On.
