Setup: I was just at Noir Leather the other day (Royal Oak). It's an alt and vintage clothing type store. They have a back room with a decent selection of sex products. While I was perusing, I overheard one customer ask the staffer about lubes.

Thought: Have you ever been out and about and helped someone make a purchase or answer a question about a product when the store's employee had no idea about a product?

All the time - mostly related to retail and costume. I spent years working at thrift stores and department stores, and got to know the fashion industry pretty well. My interest in theatrical costume throughout history also can into play a lot. I became the 'go-to' person concerning historical costuming (around Halloween) and product knowledge and coordination (despite the fact I couldn't fit into any of it).

Yes. I on one occasion in particular recall spending over an hour with a woman in an adult toy store as she was perusing bondage gear. My husband and I were as well and she looked really lost. I asked her if she needed help and wound up getting all the details of what she wanted to do (she spilled like a fountain, I think she was really excited/ nervous) and helped her make quality, sound purchases. I didn't mind at all, it was actually a lot of fun and when we left (after her) I felt like I'd really done some good for someone.

No I have never but then again I do not go much to adult stores And even regular store I have never offer ... no I don't think I have ever had given advice.

But I love that you did Angel, it was really nice of you to take the time to do that. Were the store employees in awe of how much you knew? I hope they at least thank you for helping her with making quality choices.

I have often wanted to correct sales people because they were giving misinformation and I thought the customer should know the facts, YES! I generally try to keep my mouth shut unless it's something that could be seriously dangerous.

Yup even helped a lady who was shopping for a good lube at WalMart of all places! I whipped out a coupon card and told her all about EF and then told her to check in after answering her questions about the different lubes offered at WM. She saw me later and thanked me for helping her find a great lube...I think it was one of the ID glide varieties.
