Cupless bras on women with pendulous breasts

Contributor: surreptitious surreptitious
I've been wondering about cupless bras lately, but my only experience with seeing them on someone with large breasts is seeing them on the product models. Since most of them are enhanced (either surgically or with photoshop), I feel like they don't really do a good job of giving me an idea of what to expect.

I have large, close-set breasts, and I am just wondering if anyone in a similar situation or who's been with someone in a similar situation can give me any hints as to whether cupless is really a flattering way to go. I already expect to have to alter the center gore so as not to get the East-West look, but I don't want to get too excited about cupless lingerie if it's just going to make me look saggy, as I'm not. Does anyone have any feedback?

Have you ever considered going into a high-end lingerie store and trying one on?

I have DDD's, and in my experience the full "cupless" isn't so flattering on me. However, some styles with a bit of cup that allow the nipples to show can look nice, like the "balconette" style they sell at Victoria's secret, which has an underwire and about 1/3 of the cup that holds them up nicely.

That is a super smart idea! I haven't bought lingerie in "real life" for so long that it actually never occurred to me! I'm used to having to seek out boutiques hours away that carry my size, but since I'm looking at cupless, I don't have to worry about it. You're a life-saver.

I really appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately demi cups would still have to come in my "size," because otherwise I get this terrible quadboob effect where 50-70% of my bust balloons up over the top of the cup. Were they to make a demi-cup in my size, this would be a fantastic idea, but because of the displacement of tissue, I would still need a 13" underwire to accommodate my entire breast. The perks of making it over a third of the way through the alphabet are many (I'm lying to make myself feel better - there really aren't that many perks, and there'll be even fewer in twenty years when my bust is around my belly button), but unfortunately, bra shopping isn't one of them.

Glad I could help! You can probably bop into the mall and find half a dozen different stores that have what you're looking for - I can't wear cupless bras because my breasts are wide-set and they're so uncomfortable on me. Which leads me to believe they're perfect for you.

I really hope so. I've been jealous of those who can wear them for ages, but I only just realized that I'd never actually tried one to know whether I can pull them off or not! Pretty silly of me. xD

Heh Not so silly. I was the same way with corsets then I got one for my birthday one year. I fell in love with it and realized I should have done it years prior.
