What do you guys think? Are sizing charts usually accurate enough that one review on the quality of a product is enough, or do you feel the need to read a review on the size you'd be getting? Also, on the eden shirt, the material seems to be different for each size! Or so I've heard. I've only got the medium, which is thin and silky.
Do you think it would be most effective to have a review for each size offered for a lingerie set/other clothing item?

I think it's *very* useful to have reviews for different sizes. I can only guess at how an item would fit someone a lot larger than I am, and vice versa, and from what I've read the sizing on most doesn't seem consistent. Like for the one item I reviewed: Its bust was way too big women with an average petite build (which I complained about), but larger women complained of the exact opposite problem for the same item in their sizes.

I can see how this would be useful but maybe not realistic for the company's bottom line..
12/07/2011
I think so. I have noticed as the sizes get bigger the item fits differently.

Exactly. Right now I know that EF lets one lingerie that runs s-xl get reviewed and another for plus sizes. I think this is more than fair as you are getting a range here already. If they start doing 5 or 6 reviews on each lingerie, it isn't smart for them. They are constantly getting in new lingerie due to new items coming out constantly. Just not logical.

I love getting the lowdown on sizing from reviews! I think it's interesting, for instance, that everyone who orders Espiral clothes in size small says they run a little big, but the XLs run super small.
On the other hand, I'm just thankful we can get lingerie as sponsored reviews again!

I heard the same thing. Mine is an extra large and fits me like a medium would. Its thin but soft.

I think it would be a good idea. I think knowing how it would fit a variety of body types would be a great thing. For example, on a recent lingerie review, I could explain how it fit someone with my size chest, but another member asked how it would fit someone with a smaller bust. I could guess (by putting it on a pillow), but actually having someone with a smaller bust review it would be more accurate.
I don't really know if it's feasible, and most of the lingerie reviewers do a really good job, and make really accurate, educated guesses on that kind of thing. In theory it sounds good though!

This poll is oddly worded. You give us an "either/or question" that we're supposed to answer with "yes" or "no".
"Are sizing charts usually accurate enough that one review on the quality of a product is enough?"
No, I usually end up with something that doesn't fit right if I go with the sizing chart and a single review, unless that reviewer happens to have my body type.
"Do you feel the need to read a review on the size you'd be getting?"
Yes, that would be super helpful. I would definitely buy more lingerie here if there were more reviewers and they specified their body types and sizes when reviewing.
If a product is cheap enough, I might try buying something that isn't reviewed by someone with my body type. But I am far more likely to invest in a more expensive piece if someone with a similar body type has reviewed the product and can give me some idea of the sizing.

I'm not sure a "review of each size" is necessary so much as a review from a wide variety of sizes and body types.
You could very easily read a review for an item of my size but written by someone who has an insanely different body type and prefers things to fit a different way, and that isn't always communicated clearly. A lot of things I see basically just say whether it's flattering and fits well on the boobs or whatever, but boobs come in all sizes AND SHAPES.
If anything, super specific measurements and lots and lots of pictures would probably be the biggest help for me to see how something would fit etc.
I DO think it's a little silly that you can always see the color of what someone is purchasing but not necessarily the size.

Yes, at least a few different sizes.

I think that you have to remember, at the end of the day, EF isn't meant to be a giant marketplace like Amazon. The site offers a lot but if you're really interested in product X but can't find a review that compares it in your size, uh, this is the Internet people. Google it.

I agree with you there. But then again, most of the lingerie I've gotten is free assignments where I've been the first to review it. So I have no idea if it will work for me. But I would never buy an expensive toy without first reading a few good reviews, so I think the same would apply to lingerie if I were to buy it.

Sometimes, but not really. They help me get a basic idea, but really for the most part they lie! I think that a review should be given out for regular size and for plus size. So one for size S-L and one for XL-4x, so we can have a better idea, but one of each is too many. Although would be nice. But I do think that they do give out one for plus size and one for regular size, but you have to request lingerie, they do not give those out unless requested.
12/10/2011
Oh, I'm not saying that it would be feasible for eden to give out one in each size for reviews. But it would be helpful if people would buy and then post their own.
12/10/2011
For the most part, I find the sizing charts to be accurate.

I think reviews on different sizes is a huge deal because I've often bought one size fits all to find out it's really an xsmall or size 2...It's irksome and it would be nice to read how certain sizes compare on real people.
12/11/2011
It would be fine to have reviews of different sizes, but not as assignments. It's just not practical for EF. Bottom line, a review gives you an idea of how the item fits. No two people are exactly the same. If you order a size that doesn't fit well, you can always return/exchange it.

I think it would be but then the actual system might get a bit complicated to change it at this point.
01/02/2012
It would definitely be useful. Something I have started doing is putting the size in the title of the review. That way the people who need it the most can't miss it!

I think it would be helpful for Eden but only based on the number of comments that I receive about people who are deciding to buy an item or wishlist it after reading my reviews.
I think its also important to note that possibly Eden could work with the lingerie company to get either a discount for one of each size OR maybe get them for free if the lingerie company knew they'd be getting more reviews on the site.

I think it would be beneficial for people to include the size they bought and how that compares to the sizing charts. I have very large boobs, so if I buy any piece of lingerie, I need to know if the girls are going to be happy. It might be slightly unrealistic to have reviews for each size considering it might be difficult to find someone at each size to review the item...
Maybe we need some mentors who will get students to be very specific about sizing...

The sizing charts give me a general idea if something would work, but they aren't always accurate. I've had a few pieces that were NOTHING like the sizing chart said they'd be, fit wise.
I tend to go by reviews more for sizing info, when I can.
In regards to the t-shirt, I have a total of seven EF t-shirts (hey, I use them for sleeping and lounging around the house) and all have been made out of the silky soft material.

As a new editor, I'm trying to point out the benefits of working with a mentor to everyone I edit and then I give them the link to the mentor list. Well - I do that for every non-advanced reviewer.

with vanity sizing and Europe verses american sizing the whole mess of trying to buy something that will actually fit is ten fold when you do it online without trying it on. i'm down for this suggestion.
