Does your husband/boyfriend buy you lingerie?

Contributor: Fun2 Fun2
I was curious if ladies buy their own lingerie mostly, or if they receive it as a gift from their significant other.

Normally I don't buy it for my wife and I am wondering if I should

He buys about 85% of my lingerie. He's better at picking what looks good on me then I am!

He doesn't buy lingerie for me. I know what works for my body, he doesn't and would probably get me the wrong thing!

I buy much of my wife's Lingerie including underwear. I also have bought about 95% of all of our toys. I will give them (Lingerie/toys) to her for gifts for occasions, or just because. We just recently went on a cruise and I "sneaked" three sexy bras, a pair of sexy undies, a top and a long dress into my suitcase, and laid them all out on the bed when she finally stepped into the bathroom to shower.

My boyfriend doesn't buy me lingerie, but we're both either in school or just finishing school. I know that he would if I asked, but even if I were the type to ask, I'd rather that he spent his money on important things. I do know that I'd be hella excited if he did just show up with lingerie, though, so if you've got a bit of money to spend on your wife, lingerie is probably a good way to go.

I don't really do the lingerie thing - I have underwear, some of which is prettier than the rest. I'd be worried about sizing and fit if someone else bought it for me.

Nope, he gives me Victoria Secret gift cards but he's never picked anything out. I'm pretty picky and I know what looks good on me. I'll show him something before I buy it and see if he likes it, but it's left up to me. We're not really that big into lingerie anyways.

I've just started buying lingerie for my wife and so far, she's pretty happy about it.

She didn't get mad, although she did get a little bummed when I picked the wrong size the first time. It's helpful if you know her measurements. You can also check the sizes of the lingerie she already has. Unfortunately, my wife didn't want to discuss her measurements and she's a compulsive label-remover, so checking out her closet and undies drawer didn't help me.

I hope it won't be trial and error for you as it is for me - because it can be a bit of a minefield! Too small and she's bummed out; too big and she's a little insulted! But in the end, for us at least, it's a net positive. Good luck!

Once in a blue moon my husband will buy me some. However, it is so hard with sizes...he has gotten them too small before which killed my excitement and he felt bad (also waste of money when they don't fit it they cant be returned). So, I typically stick to doing the buying but he enjoys the surprise when I get new ones

I definitely buy my own for sizing purposes, but he puts in his input on what he'd like to see on me!

I don't think that I could ever get mad at someone who got me the wrong size in something, especially something as finnicky as lingerie. I mean, every manufacturer does things differently, so half the time I can't even tell what size I'm supposed to be until I try it on. Sizing is one of the least precise "standards" that I can think of, and I hope that everyone in my life who would ever have cause to buy me lingerie knows that I would feel that my intelligence were insulted if they thought that I would react like that. I feel like that comes off as very insulting to your wife, which I absolutely don't mean it to be - I'm just at a complete loss as to how a woman could expect a man to have not only a perfect understanding of how women's sizing works but also account for the slight variations between the fits of different fabrics and styles.

Well, she was just bummed, not mad at me. I think her reaction had more to do with the fact that she liked the piece, thought it was super sexy - but it was just too small for her. That provoked the almost-inevitable (and completely false) "I'm so fat" instant reaction so many women have in situations like that.

And I think the fact that it was a gift made it worse for her than if she'd bought it for herself, because she seemed apologetic about it, as if she'd let me down or something (again, nothing could have been further from the truth, but that's how she felt).

Overall, she's very supportive of my desire to buy her stuff!

No, he doesn't buy me lingerie. He does offer his suggestions, though, which I take into account when I buy myself lingerie.

I can kind of relate to her feeling like she let you down after the lingerie didn't fit. I know when my partner buys me a gift that doesn't work for me, I always feel like I let him down a bit because I know that he wanted it to work...
