Personally, I'm not comfortable in vinyl. It's rather similar to having plastic bags over your skin - if you're wearing it for a short time, it's okay, but it doesn't really breathe.

Items such as skirts give some air circulation around the skin. The form-fitting items such as corsets are where the effects of heat (combined with your own body heat) can really be noticed.
