Anal lubricants last longer. Are the non-anal lubricants redundant?

Contributor: MacNCheese MacNCheese
I don't understand why manufacturers make water-based anal lubricants and water-based lubricants that are non-anal. Isn't it redundant to purchase an anal lubricant and a non-anal lubricant? The anal lubricants can be used inside the vagina, and they seem to last longer.

Someone enlighten me.

Clever marketing really.

If you knew nothing of the products, you might assume that anal lube isn't safe for vaginal use, or vice versa.

Besides, some people don't necessarily want the lube to last as long.. Some only need it to get started (in the case of vaginal penetrative sex) and then their bodies will warm up more as they are stimulated more.

Well, my boyfriend doesn't care for Maximus vaginally because he kind of loses the sensation? I guess too slippery is a bad thing for vaginal.

Sensation loss with maximus isn't because of slipperiness it is because of the viscosity of the lube.

I've also noticed that the people who are REALLY not into anal sometimes can't get past the "anal" on the label. Even if I assure them that they can use it for vaginal, they go "Uhhhhh...no, thanks..." and buy something else. I'd actually sold one guy on a bottle of Soothe, and then his wife made him come back and return it for a "normal lube."

Personally, my favourite lube (Liquid Silk) isn't very good for anal, but I still much prefer the feel of it. If it worked better for anal, I'd have no use for Soothe or Maximus.

My friend prefers the feel of Maximus for everything, so that's all she buys.
