That depends on what you're using the lube for.
Pros: Oil is slicker, lasts longer and works well in the tub/shower/pool.
Cons: It's harder to wash off and not compatible with condoms and some sex toys.
We use oil once in a while for regular sex, but not with toys or anal sex.

We're different than 90% of EF contributors. We prefer oil-based lubes for everything. They are compatible with all of our toys and leave your skin luscious and soft after we're done.
The oil-based products that we use are generally cocoa & Shea butter formulations with added almond and vitamin E oils. Actually quite healthy ingredients.
Our favorite premium is Yes - a fully certified organic product from the UK link. This is premium stuff that I use for my wife. For me we use a little less expensive line of products from Aura Cacia - here is a link to one - they have several formulations link.

I have not cared for oil based lube. It makes you feel greasy after use. I like a high quality water based lube. They stay slick for as long as we need them to be, they are not sticky, and just a towel wipes you clean.

I have very limited experience with oil based lubes, but if you have a good one it'll last longer than a water based (will also be harder to clean up than a water based) and will leave you feeling nice and smooth. The one product marketed as a lube that I've tried failed, but I have a massage oil that can also be used as a lube that I think would work pretty well.

I have tried a few oil based lubes and I prefer them for hand jobs and general massages. I really just don't care for them for other uses, just because of the added clean up. Other than that, I really do recommend them to those who are interested in trying them!
