Is anyone else not super crazy about lubes?

Contributor: removedacnt removedacnt
To start with I do use them when needed. But I find, for me, they actually take away from the sensations. I have very good lubes thanks to the reviewers on here. I have Maximus and Eros. I use them mostly for internal use with toys. But for clitoral stimulation or intercourse with my husband, I prefer not to use them.

Am I the only one?

I only use them when I need them; if I'm sufficiently wet without them, there's no need to add more.

I only use lubes when necessary- I've tried a few that have detracted from the experience rather than add to it. Very frustrating.

I agree. I don't particularly like lubes, but always have one ready just in case.

I agree that it's good to keep them handy just in case. And I do have to say that the ones I have are very good compared to others I've tried.

And if I could pick just one it would be the Eros. But unfortunately I can't use that one with any of my silicone toys.

I forget to use lube a lot of the time but really, I'm a fan for the most part. You know, different strokes. I tihnk lube can make sex better for some but I've run across more than one person who gave off this sort of "if you use lube, there must be something wrong with you" aura.

I agree. Getting naturally wet is not a problem, but natural secretions don't feel the same as a thick lube. It also depends on what I'm doing. Just intercourse, I skip the lube. Clit stimulation, I use it. And I like the cool tingle of Tickle Her Pink.

I have endometriosis and unfortunately it can stop me from getting as wet as I would like to. So often I am forced to use a lube or I end up getting hurt. Which Im sure you all know is not fun. But no, I dont like them either, mostly because they are so messy. You put it on, and then its like "Gee, my hand is full of lube. What now?" Since sex tends to be spontaneous, its not like I have a paper towel just sitting there. They're a pain. I wish there was a different way.

Yes I am very very wet naturally, and adding anything to that does end up taking away. Plus I have a thing about touching gooey chemical stuff. It takes me months to switch shampoos even. So lube is not my friend. On occasion it is, but not normally.

We use lube a lot, but mostly for anal. It definitely is my friend for that

I only use lube when I'm by myself or when we're trying to slip a cock ring on. For some reason once boyfriend and I have been at it I can get so wet that it's actually difficult to proceed. I've wondered if there was some kind of problem with my body because of that.

Actually, that's how we ended up almost fracturing his penis. He's still not right after that incident.

I need lube, my uterus and cervix were removed over a year ago (along with 6 pounds of tumor), so no more cervical mucus. Lube is my best friend! Also, the closer you get to menopause, and especially after menopause, the walls of the vagina thin out. Lube not only prevents microtears, abrasions, discomfort and irritation, lube can prevent fistulas (the tearing of the wall between the rectum and vaginal canal).

Funny, I read this thread and though "But I LOVE lube!" and then I realized, what I love lube for is not PIV sex with my male partner - it's everything else...

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that. I can see where it would be your best friend.

I'm in menopause now. And though I am much drier before sex than I used to be, I'm still able to get extremely wet from foreplay. But your information about tears, etc, is very good to know. I will be careful to prevent that.

I used to never use any lube but I've noticed that lately, we use it more and I really enjoy it. Sometimes, because of my age and past hysterectomy, I have dryness and the lubes have really helped with the comfort level.
Also, I like the flavors just for added fun and now that I have found some sugar free ones, it's great...
