It depends on what kind of sex, what kind of toy and when in the action we'll be doing different things.
For PIV, usually not, (now that my HRT started working! ) he just goes down on me and we are OK with whatever is there from both of us. Same with toys early during sex, because I am really aroused then. For toys late in the act, (after I've come a few times, and we are going back to toy use for whatever reason) then I will put some lube on the toy to make insertion easier.
For anal sex, always. We actually tried it with just what was left over from PIV a few days ago, (he said it would only "take a minute" and it did) and I was left fairly uncomfortable for a day or so. (Yes, I know better, but it was a spur of the moment thing, we were having PIV and he wanted to end with a little anal and we both thought the natural lube would be enough. NO, actually we weren't thinking at all! ) I always use lube for exercise balls, as I am usually not aroused when putting them in.

Lube, all the way. Saliva just doesn't work for me... it dries too quickly and it's not slick enough.

Saliva doesn't last very long and once it's gone, there's more friction than before, unless replenished.

Saliva tends to build friction for me much faster than even a crappy lube. Using a high quality lube just makes sex more fun and enjoyable!

knowing me, i'd probably have an allergic reaction to any lube. saliva all the way and it hasn't failed yet! but to each their own!

Saliva dries so quickly! It doesn't work at all, really. The only time I want saliva is when I want my boyfriend to spit on me (which isn't a lot of the time because I have to be in a certain mood).
