Water based can be used for anything without having to worry about compatibility. I've never used an oil based, and don't have much of a need to.

I have only used water based since they can be used with everything. I have a hybrid lube that was a couples lube that we used together but not with toys.

Definitely waterbased! Some say that the vagina has a hard time flushing oils out of it (which then it could trap bacteria and cause problems), hoever people use Coconut oil as a lube (or lubes with that in it) and don't have any problems. However, oil will degrade latex condoms/gloves/etc.

I like water based because it is compatible with all materials. I placed an order for coconut oil which is supposed to be great for women so I hope I'll like it.

I choose a hybrid of water and silicone based.its non tacky and no need to keep reapplying. A little goes a long way! Jo has some really great lube on the market right now.

Water based is definitely the best I've tried. Oil always feels...icky to me.

Oil based lubes cannot be used with latex condoms because they break them down and then they aren't safe anymore. They're no longer effective. Also I really would not want to put oil up my cooch!
Water based lubes can be used with any toy materials (silicone lubes and toys cannot be used together for example) and they are totally safe with condoms too.

For me, nothing works better than a good oil-based lube for some solo play (Elbow Grease cream, Swiss Navy...) but I never use the stuff with condoms or toys; only water-based will do for that.

Oil-based are bad vaginally and are not condom-safe, so water-based is definitely superior. I opt for silicone whenever possible, though.

I've never tried oil based, but it sounds gross. I'll stick with water based. Plus water based lube works with condoms and all toy materials (as far as I know)

It depends on the brand. My favorite lube is oil based, though. No water based lube could tear me away from my Aloe Cadabra.

Water based for us. Why? We like that it is more natural than silicone based lubes. It will also be absorbed more easily by the body and we don't have to be worried too much about the clean up. As others have mentioned, it is safer to use with toys, condoms and will not cause them to degrade with simple exposure to the lube.
The down side is that sometimes I need to re apply lube when we participate with anal play.
Has any one used Sliquid? This lube is supposed to be a hybrid of the two.

I'm very curious about sliquid users and thoughts as well. I've heard a couple people mention it being a fave but we haven't tried it yet.
