I prefer thick water based lubes as well. As stated already its easy to switch to other toys.

I prefer waterbased lubes for anal because the cleaning process is easier/more pleasant. I don't really feel like washing out my ass with soap and water to get silicone lube out of me after I no longer, you know, need it.

Silicone based, most definitely! You need so much less than with water-based lubes and it feels a lot nicer, to me. We're actually getting rid of all our water based lubes!

We love silicone because they last longer, but we found that they don't clean up nearly as easily and they leave an icky feeling after play since we can't get it off. We've been sticking to water-based lubricants now.

I prefer a nice thick water based lube. It's compatible with everything, doesn't stain fabric and is easy to clean up. It's just more versatile!

Unless I plan on using a silicone toy I always will pick silicone lube. Last longer, stays better and never seen any reason to clean up afterwards. Plus I can use it in the tub or shower, something that water based does not work well with.

There is less of a clean up required with water based lubricant and you don't have to worry about limiting silicone toys in the mix.

I prefer water cause it goes with all my toys and I don't have to wait for it to exit my body like with silicone.
My body doesn't like getting rid of silicone lube very easily.
I haven't had an issue with the water/silicone hybrid lube though.

Water, seems more nature-like than, say silicone. Also tends to dry up slower.

I LOVE silicone lube for anal play, especially Boy Butter which is made of coconut oil and organic silicone. It's super long lasting, whereas with water based you generally have to reapply. Great for steel and glass toys and you only need a few drops.
Though I do always keep water based around because I love using silicone toys.

Silicone is longer lasting and thicker, but it limits your choices of anal toys you can play with b/c you wouldn't be able to use silicone toys with it.

We use silicone toys and silicone lubes as we have found the good quality silicone toys (Tantus and Fun Factory for example) to be just fine with Pjur Original, anal and 'woman' lubes. The silicone lube gives long-lasting slip which saves us re-lubing part way through (which can be a bit of a mood-killer). However, for insertion we find Liquid Silk (which is a water based lube with a small proportion of silicone added) to make toys very slick indeed - helpful during those initial moments while things are still a little tense and tight.
So I guess our answer is BOTH - water-based to get it in and silicone to keep it moving!
