When waterbased lube affects your silicone toys...

I just got the Curve and I gave it a try today with my usually very well trusted ForPlay Lube Deluxe Cream....

After using it I found a patch on the toy that was not matte like the rest of the finish of the curve and it was slightly tacky-ish.

I thought I hadn't cleaned my toy right so I cleaned it again...the patch was still there.

I applied a bit of the lube to the base and let it sit as I did other things . Low and behold, the same thing happenned to the base! Has this ever happenned to any one else.

I really love this lube but I am very disapointed that I can't use it with silicone, or not anymore now that I know it can damage my toys!

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear that happened! I've never had an issue with water-based lubes, or even with hybrid lubes. Have you used that lube with other silicone toys in the past?

Yes! I have used it with my Ella from LELO and have not had any issues, but honestly, I pretty much only use this lube for my man. It hasn't reacted with my Ryder or Encore which or two anal toys that I use.

I don't know what to think! I wonder if I should write to the company or something.

Is that the FunFactory Curve???

I have that and I haven't had any problems with waterbased lubes. But I haven't used de luxe lube before.

Totally sux that it's done that to your toy. I'd be very peeved.

I use the same lube and I haven't noticed anything like that happening with my silicone toys (Ryder, Share, Bandito, Silk). It's probably worth a call or email to check it out.

Check this out more. If the lube you used was the one you linked then there shouldn't be anything in there that would bond with silicone. Does the company make silicone lubes, too? That's the only thing that readily comes to mind, that they also make silicone lubes and some got mixed in with yours (in which case they should replace your toy).

"ForPlay Lube de Luxe is a water based lubricant with the properties of oil or silicone based lubes" Yeah, like it can damage silicone toys? This should NOT happen with a water based lube. I would be very upset. Something is not right.

Have you previously used this lube with other silicone toys with no problems?

Can you scrape away the tackiness? Have you tried boiling the toy to see if that helps? Good luck.

Eek, that sucks! I'd be so pissed off if that happened to me, especially since most of my toys are silicone (and in many cases, expensive). I'd definitely stick to using that lube for sex...and I hope I don't have to worry about using water-based lubes now on top of silicone ones.

Oh man I would be mad about it.

Definitely call up the company and/or write a strongly worded email.

I haven't re-boiled it since I got it but I think I will try that. I tried to scratch at the tackiness but it won't go away. The odd thing is that I have used this lube with many other silicone toys without any issues (Liv, Ryder, Encore, Severin and Ryder).

I'll do another patch test but leave the lube on longer. The patch test I originally made the base a little tacky but not as much as the other spot on the head. I'm really confused. If it damaged my toy wouldn't it damage my other silicone toys?!?!

I'll be buying another waterbased lube. I don't really trust this lube anymore.

Honestly, I'm upset but I am not that angry. I mean, I don't want to bother replacing it for such a small spot, it doesn't impede how well it works. I'm going to review my Curve and take pictures of the spots to show what it looks like. I'm disapointed but other than that I'm confused more than anything.
