Which silicone lube works with silicone toys?

Contributor: Alt Alt
Here is what I have heard:
Wet Platinum does not work
ID Millennium does not
ID Velvet does not

Pjur Eros does

Are there any others or is Eros the only one?

I thought it had to do with the silicone, not the lube...

From what we've heard, it has to do with the purity of the silicone in both the toy and the lube. I can personally vouch for the fact that ID Millenium isn't kind to silicone toys. Tantus sells the Pjur brand and has told me it works with all their toys, so apparently Pjur is exactly that... pure.

I guess the only way to know for sure would be to actually test it.

Perhaps I will buy a cheap Tantus toy, and test the various kinds of silicone lubes.
Did you happen to test the ID Millennium on a Tantus toy?

never tried silicone lube before, but i have read that it is really difficult to clean up and remove?

is this the case with Pjur Eros compared to other brands?

has anyone found a water based option that can compare for these purposes?

We did, on the Tantus Deuce. It didn't totally eat a hole in the toy or anything, but it did leave a permanent mark, which I didn't take as being a good thing.

It is somewhat difficult to remove: kink of like olive oil.

@the_mohawk
You need to use Soap + Water + Material (like a washcoth) to rub it off.
Pretty much all silicone-based lubes will be hard to remove because water doesn't dilute it to wash it off.
I don't think any water-based lube can be as slippery or last as long as silicone, because sweat will mix with the lube and cause it to lose its slickness

@Alan & Michele
Thank you for testing that =)
Let me know if you do any more tests with other Silicone lubes on Tantus toys.
I would say Tantus is the toy for the tests because if it doesn't work with their kind of high grade silicone, then I doubt it would be for other toys.

Oh I don't know, I thought the "kink" with olive oil was kind of amusing. LOL

We've got a new bottle of Sliquid silicone around here somewhere, and I'll try to remember to test it on a Tantus toy tomorrow so you'll have the results of that as well.

I have also thought about trying it on a Tantus plug I have, but just on the base.
What are the results.. like it melts the silicone?

Just a follow up on this for you--- I tested Sliquid Silver silicone today on the Tantus Acute, and it's no good either. It left a permanent indention and haze mark in the base after only a few seconds, the same as ID Millenium does.

Has anyone actually tested the Eros Pjur with Tantus?
08/07/2009
Contributor: Alt Alt
Thank you for the info.

I have not tried Eros Pjur yet, but I have some coming either tomorrow or Monday and I will try it then =)

Also: I just did a test with Wet Platinum(link) on the Tantus Ryder Plug(link) and the Tantus Big Daddy.
The results were interesting. It didn't harm, melt, or mark them... (I first tested it on the base, then side, then all over) but rather it was almost like absorbed, because it quickly became none slippery.

So I guess its kind of like washing water-based lubed off in water.
They should make a silicone rag so we can actually wipe it off more easy, lol!

So while the lube wont hurt the toy, its not very effective.

I have just ordered a 30 ml bottle of ID Velvet and 2 samples: System JO Original and Astroglide X (Its a new lube made by Atroglide) from CheapLubes.com (EF was out of small Velvet sizes, and EF doesn't sell smaller sample sizes)

BTW - For anyone that wants to help test, then feel free.
Here is their silicone lube list - link
And there are many others here at EF.

Also, I have just found some ID Millenium that was in a sample tube, and the results appear to be the same as Wet Platinum: Almost like being absorbed. On the 2 Tantus toys, it didn't make any marks, but rather seems to have disappeared.

Okay so I now just tested: Astroglide X, System JO Original, and ID Velvet

Results:
All 3 are also absorbed, but still without any marks on two Tantus silicone toys.

Astroglide X was almost instantly absorbed (possibly because it feels so light)
I really don't think it has anything special to offer, other than being Astroglide's newest lubricant that is silicone based.

System JO, I thought at first was going to work... but it was also absorbed withing 10 or so seconds of rubbing. It seemed to work better than the other ones so far though (Wet Platinum, ID Millennium, and Astroglide X)

ID Velvet was one I really thought worked, as it took about 15-20 seconds of rubbing the toy before it was absorbed. This appears to probably the best one testing so far, but still is not one that work 100%

My ranking so far of silicone lubes I have tested on silicone toys (on how effective they say lubed) - Listed in descending order:
1. ID Velvet
2. System JO Original
3. Wet Platinum
4. Astroglide X
5. ID Millennium

--Notes:
I have yet to see any that makes any marks, melts, or deforms the silicone of the two Tantus toys I am testing it on.

I have yet to find one that works 100% by staying slippery.

Perhaps Pjur Eros will be the winner?
I should be getting it sometime this week and report back with results

I actually love the Universal Lube. I have used it on every single silicone sex toy that I own, used it for fisting, and once a backrub and not had any problems with it.

The other review came up negative, and I still can't understand why...

Interesting.
I will have to give it a try

So basically when you put it on other silicone toys, it stays slippery?

It does indeed. Slippery, moist, and doesn't seem to need a lot either. I'd love to hear what you think about it. In general, I don't use much lube, so I may be a bit biased. I will say though - for me, it's a product that has worked extraordinarily well, and I'm unlikely to change.

I used it on most of my silicone toys before I even knew that you weren't supposed to or to patch test them!

As far as I know, the only silicone lube and silicone toys that are compatible are Pjur Eros and Tantus toys. It's a combination of both the kind of silicone in the lube and the kind of silicone in the toy.

Any other silicone lube will break down the silicone and ruin your toy, causing it to become sticky.

Contributor: Alt Alt
I have been trying to see that sticky breakdown occur on two of these Tantus toys I am using as test (I don't use them much anyway, I prefer glass, metal, plastic, acrylic, and ceramic) but I have yet to see this result yet.

Maybe this only happens with other silicone toys and not Tantus ones?

Not all Pjur will work. I've had the Pjur original which seemed to absorb like the other lubes you identified. Pjur makes a lubricant with a muscle relaxer to help make anal easier, and because of the muscle relaxer, the Pjur wasn't as pure anymore, it seemed to slowly peel a thin layer from the Tantus I was using, though it didn't deform it, there is now a small part that is gone, so I will have to purchase a new Echo sometime. The Pjur Backdoor (relaxer) didn't seem to absorb, it did stay slick, however it did slowly take a small layer off of the toy making a little less than perfect.

Okay, I had a friend tell me that she uses Pjur Eros Bodyglide on her Tantus Tulip plug all the time with absolutely no problems.
