Great idea for cleaning boilable toys

Contributor: P'Gell P'Gell
I work in Women's Health and there is a product for quick sterilization of breast pump supplies. They are bags, which are put into the microwave with a few ounces of water and then zapped for a few minutes.

It JUST occurred to me (after reading a post about boiling toys) that these bags might be very convenient for sex toys. The bags can be used for up to 20 sterilizations and are not expensive. They can be bought from the manufacturer, but as most people in this business are pretty conservative, probably buying them from EBay or other places (you can Google them) would be better.

This kinda sounds expensively scary.

I have no experience with breast pumps, are they silicone based? Plastic?

I'd think solid plastic would handle this better than silicone. Can someone enlighten me?

Why do you think that'd be the case? Silicone can be boiled and has a very high melting temperature - I'd be happier getting that really hot than any sort of plastic!

I was thinking more of the heat of the water vs. the applied direct heat from the burner. I was also wondering if there was a difference with gas and electric burners.

As long as the toy is surrounded by water and not just popped into the microwave by itself, it should be ok for toys that can usually be sterilized via boiling. I definitely like this idea! It sounds a lot more convenient and efficient than stirring a pot of dildos
