Leather vs vegan: which do you like more? :)

Contributor: DreamWolf DreamWolf
Let's put aside that you don't want lil critters to be killed, and also that for some reason you are willing to use only the material coming from Mama Nature's lil ones: putting these aside, which material do you find better in other manners when in comes to quality products?

Leather. It lasts longer in my experience. Plus it looks, feels and smells better. I have quite a fascination with the material. I go pretty nuts over a guy in a leather jacket.

I also have safety concerns about PVC.

Leather all the way. I do not understand vegan synthetic leather. True, it is an animal product, but most of the animal is used up. Faux leather is made from plastics, which are not biodegradable and from an eco friendly standpoint, not good.

I can actually, honestly say I do not like leather. It's a turn off to me, no matter what it's used for. It stinks and just feels nasty to me. I choose vegan with ALL my products, but that is because of the animals. I don't think I'd have a huge issue with leather if it weren't animal parts, but I wouldn't find it pretty or a turn on. It stinks! My mom went on vaca and bought me the most adorable handmade owl necklace. I didn't even know that the chain was leather until I had it on and smelled it. EW!

Besides the fact that I choose vegan because of animals, leather simply does not appeal to me. Leather accessories, jackets, bedroom products just are not nice looking. I like colorful, comfy and soft. I don't like the look of it or the smell or the feel. I just can't understand the hype about it. Why do people think it's "gorgeous?" It's plain brown or black stinky stuff!

I love everything about leather, but most of my bags/cuffs/jackets are imitation vegan leather only because it's cheaper.

Leather all the way. Fake leather just doesn't have the same feel to it. It feels cold.

Veganness aside, leather stinks and has chemical treatments so it doesn't decompose (it is dead skin after all) that are just as problematic as anything in a synthetic.

They don't last as long, but I'm kinda freaked out by using something for toooo long, especially when it comes to sex...I'd rather replace stuff often, and I tend to replace things only if they're falling apart so if something gives me a reminder it's cool with me. They're also cheaper to try out and if you don't like it no harm done.

I love leather. But I've never tried Vegan. Not like we kill animals just for their skin. So it being animals doesn't really bother me. I'd rather use every part possible if an animal is being killed, not just the meat.

Fake leather for me has always had this cheap, fragile feel to it. Does not feel like its worth my money.

Despite being pretty serious about not wearing or using leather, I can't deny to myself how interesting I find it. However, I prefer the imitation stuff. I find most of it works just as well, but there is no mistaking real leather.
