PU coated plastic - use with silicone lube?

Contributor: RubenesqueAna RubenesqueAna
So I'm writing a review on the Total Euphoria and I noticed on the bottom of the box it says to "always use a water based lubricant with this product for maximum pleasure." I know you can't use silicone toys with silicone-based lubes, but as far as I was aware, this wasn't an issue with PU coated plastic (the material page says they're fine to use with silicone-based lubes). So am I missing something here, or is Cal Ex just extra keen on water-based lubes for some reason? Thanks!

Ya, there just recommending water based. I have three toys that are PU coated and they have been fine using silicone lube. You can always do a spot test if you want.

Stellar. Thanks a load. I've never even used silicone lube.

No problem. I use it mainly for shower/tub play. But most of my toys are silicone so a bottle will last me forever.

Polyurethane won't have a problem with silicone, and probably won't have a problem with most oil-based lubes either (at least that's the word from Don Wands for their PU-wood hybrid toys). My guess is that they're promoting water-based lubes because they're condom safe and don't get people in trouble.
