Is there a market for this?

Contributor: bayosgirl bayosgirl
I've had an idea for several years, sparked by my frustration that ALL the edible sex products on the market, that I know of at least, are full of artificial sweeteners, colors, and even petrochemicals.

I know that a lot of people these days, myself being one of them, are health-conscious. And a lot of people, myself included again, like to use sex toys/products. It got me wondering, if there are so many body safe TOYS available, why are there no lickable products that are free of harmful chemicals? If we're concerned about what goes in/on our bodies, shouldn't we be even more concerned about what we consume?

What I'm wondering is if there's actually a market for a line of edible products made only of natural and hypoallergenic ingredients. No glycerine, sugar of any kind (I'm thinking sugar alcohols like xylitol for sweeteners, which as far as I know don't contribute to yeast infections), or artificial anything. There could be an edible body paint, an oral sex cream and/or spray, and cleansing wipes that leave a light, yummy flavor.

So...what does the EF community think? Should I give serious thought to this idea of mine?

I always figure that there must not be a way to do that and still make it taste decent. Not sure though, it could be possible, but it could result in really high priced tasties! Lol. It'd be interesting to see and try, but if it didn't taste good, I wouldn't see a point in buying it. Nice idea though and if it happened to work out, that'd be awesome!

Oh oops, I meant to say that I would definitely not be interested in something like that but that's because I don't mix food and sex. I didn't mean to indicate you shouldn't go ahead with it, I'm sure there's a market for it somewhere, it just might not be a large market.

I would give it a whirl! I hate aspartame so an alternative would be nice.

Does intimate organics have anything of this caliber?

If they tasted good I would use them, but I really don't have a problem with the ingredients in most edible products.

There are products like that out there already...Honey Lube is made with Xylitol. But, if you have pets in your house...I suggest keeping anything with Xylitol in it OUT. It is highly toxic to pets!

Granted, I don't expect pets to be included in any sex games...I just know how curious pets can be.

I'd definitely be interested. I like knowing that what I put in my body (at any time) is both healthy for me and for the environment. Though... and I know this is incredibly not sexy... sugar alcohols if consumed in mass quantities can cause digestive distress.

Possibly but because the market for persons purchasing these types of products is small to begin with, it might cost more to make and package them than you could make selling them.

the idea might be appealiing to some, but Im not really into edibles.

I would be curious but to be honest sugar alcohols can have negative impacts on you too. They can cause cramps and upset tummy.

Nice idea. Anything better than the crap most places sell.

It could be a good idea but I personally can't use many sugar alcohols. My body can not digest them at all.

I don't use edible lubes or lotions because of the weird ingredients in them, but I might be willing to try something that was made with safe/natural ingredients.

I would only try one if it was made of all safe ingredients.

I would try it but I don't think I would actually go out and buy it. If I want some yummy stuff to lick off my partner, I have stuff in the cabinet. If you could make a lube that tastes good and is made with completely safe stuff, I would try it out. A majority of edible lubes really cross the line of toxic/not-completely-b ody-safe.

Better get a degree in biochemistry.
