Toy fitting?

Contributor: SilverIsis SilverIsis
Many times on here I have seen toys being given lower ratings because of issues of anatomy not working with the toy purchased. Most other products that deal with "sensitive areas" such as bike seats and bras, you have the ability to be fitted for these items when dealing with a specialty store. My question is, if a store was able to provide you with a fitting by taking measurements of that area and/or providing sample forms that are either made of a non-porous material that can be medically sterilized such as metal or glass or that were single use plastic, would you try it?

Yes, sounds like it would lead to a better fit and a more orgasmic experience

That's a cool idea! If companies had like a single use, disposable plastic tester that you could take home to see if it would fit your individual anatomy, it would make buying toys much easier. I guess the only issue for the companies would be cost.

If it was one-use, then for sure! Especially with the more expensive toys!

That would be awesome, especially since I've noticed I seem to prefer much smaller toys for insertion than most people. It seems like all the coolest dildos are too big

I would try it out but I think I would prefer the one use plastic samples. Not everyone is a fan of temperature and plastic would be less likely to provide an unpleasant temperature reaction.

I think it's a really cool idea, although it may not always translate perfectly. For instance, some toys are a specific material and using a plastic form of the same shape & size isn't going to be accurate to using the toy (for instance, I am almost positive that I would hate a plastic Lone Star, while the glorious vixskin version is divine). And, would it manage to be as flexible as the actual toy? Would a plastic We-Vibe form seem less excellent because it wouldn't have the same bend and give as a real one? It might seem like it doesn't fit just because it can't be maneuvered properly. Also, how sexually excited could you really get over this kind of a thing? Vaginas change shape as one gets aroused. You may think a toy isn't fitting or working for you if you're just using a plastic mock-up, but maybe it's because the mock-up doesn't vibrate and is just totally boring. You know? Some toys need to be played with for a little while so you can warm up to them before you know if they really fit you or not. A plastic form would fail for that kind of test.

I imagine a one-use kit similar to a "clone-a-willy" or "clone-a-pussy" kit, that would kind of look lie an over-sized condom to be filled with plaster to make a "test mold" out of that could travel with you to the store.

Good idea ,but then they wouldn't sell us all the toys that did not work for us so they won't do that

You forgot other. Seems not to work well economically, with the price of the samples' material...

I'm not so sure Mark. It would need more market research. Most of the toys that rate well here and other places tend to be investment pieces costing $75+. Given that I would think it would advantageous for a company to have the ability to give the customer as much information to determine their purchase as possible. Plus, depending on the accuracy, a store could charge for this service and would likely have the ability to upsell the customer as it would more then likely marketed as free if you purchase a certain level of product. It's not like it's a novel idea. I have been to Adult stores where you will be charged for browsing if you do not purchase an item and I have been to bra stores that charge for fittings.

Perhaps there are too many things to consider in using just a "sample model" if you will, so maybe going with a 3D measuring system would be more feasible. It would also address toxie's concern that the vagina changes during arousal. While the scan was being done the customer, they could be shown arousing images or be stimulated non vaginally either by a partner or themselves which would allow the changes to be recorded. Granted, this seems that it would be invasive for some, but then again I have seen people go to great lengths for customization.

I am likely over thinking this, and there is probably a simpler solution out there. It's just as someone that has been burned more then once on expensive toys that didn't fit and as a person that likes to have as much information as possible when making a purchase, I know that there has to be a way to make toy shopping a more reliable experience.

That would certainly be handy, especially considering we spend so much on toys that might not work

Interesting idea, but sharing with strangers wouldn't work so it'd have to be disposable

Maybe you should patent the idea and come out with a line of toys like that.

only if the fitting is done with disposable items!

I want something disposable with which I can fit myself, back in my own home. I do not want to "be fitted."

plastic testers make sense. Like paint samples for walls. That could be a great idea

But "fit" depends on texture and firmness, too. so you'd need to have some sort of material to mimic that, and for a woman, her cycle can change preferences.

I see where the idea is coming from, but I don't think it's pratical

First of all it's too personal. Secondly for my wife size preference varies with the time of month, mood and level of arousal. It's usually best to start small and shallow - the go deeper and larger as she progresses - but some days she's ready to large right away. I go with the flow!

We've just gone with trial and error. Like Gunsmoke says, starting small is a good idea.

I think fitting is an interesting concept, though, and from the comments, maybe there would be a market for a disposable fitting device.

If you think about it, there are plenty of cheap plastic toys you can buy that will help figure out what will and will not fit -- I lucked into a situation where a ten dollar plastic toy I bought on a whim happened to fit perfectly, and when I held it up to 'view actual size' pictures of more expensive toys, I could easily sort out which ones would fit right and which would fail. So yes, I would take advantage of plastic samples, I'd even be willing to pay a few dollars for them, although while that's perfect for considering external attachment placement on rabbits, it's not going to be much help for determining how big one can go with soft silicone dildos.

I think it would be great if there would be a system for certain measurements to be classified (like how women can by bras by cup size and strap length).
