Anything that's stretchy or adjustable is easier to use. Some people prefer the look of a metal one though.

It depends on the level of experience of the user. If they're fairly new to cock rings, it would be better to get silicone because it is a stretchy material. Stainless steel is not going to have ANY give to it at all so teh sizing MUST be accurate.

Also, if you plan on getting the Tantus one featured; they have beginner, intermediate, and advanced and the names have nothing to do with cock ring usage, but actual size of the cock ring. I didn't measure my hubby and ordered the wrong size so it's been my goal to inform everyone to please measure first and see which one will FIT you.

My favorite ring is my SS Omega - but I needed time using stretchy silicone rings before I got the hang of it. I still use both - but use the metal about 80% of the time.

Silicone or rubber to start. Metal obviously has that inherent danger of clamping.
