I agree!
I chose my bedframe (ornate metal head and footboards) because it would give me lots of attachment points for things.
And my Sir (not to be confused with the one upthread, though they seem to have similar views on furniture) has a fainting couch that is pretty versatile.

Started with a weight bench with adjustable back rest. Then we built a Sex Chair. It took about $500 in materials to build. Came out beautiful. Is very functional. Could be good for someone with a bad low back.
