Why are wedges so expensive?

Contributor: Sanjay Sanjay
I am relatively new to the sex toy game, but I am very interested in the various Liberator wedge products out there. Right now my husband and I just make do with old pillows, but it can be cumbersome. However, I was really shocked to see $85+ for what seems like a shaped pillow. Am I missing something here? For those who own one of these, do you feel like it was worth the money?

Also, my husband and I are, shall we say, not light people (we're not talking morbidly obese or anything, but certainly not light). How much weight can these things really support? I would love to hear peoples' experiences and whether or not you think it was really worth the money.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly it is worth every penny. These are more dense than pillows, made with a foam rather than down or fluff. I'm at work with no one in the store and my back is hurting, I pull out one of the ramps and lay on it, it contours to what my body needs for support and ends up being more comfortable than my bed.

All of their products have 2 layers over the foam, an inner layer which is moisture resistant. It keeps any fluids out, and the outer layer which is a super soft microfiber that feels like heaven. :3 The outer layer is washable, and the inner one can be wiped down if needed.

There are a few wedges/ramps/similar styled products that are cheaper. typically, they're inflatable, they can only hold a combined weight of 300lbs. After that they'll most likely pop, also if blown up incorrectly it can either be too giving, or too stiff. The Liberator products will hold any weight without problems.

I think those things are gorgeous, but I'd never spend so much money on what seems to be a glorified Temperapedic pillow. It's not that I couldn't theoretically enjoy using the Liberator stuff, it's just that I'd be too pissed off/insulted over the price to even get turned on.

A classic Tempur Pedic pillow - which is designed for sleeping on - runs $99. link

A contour wedge system starts at $228. link

The liberator wedge is $89.99. Unlike the Tempur Pedic bed pillow it's designed to position a person properly for various sex acts. It has an inner lining that repels moisture. It comes in multiple colors and can be built upon, increasing the variety of your sexual positioning, by purchasing the Ramp. It can be converted into a bondage system.

Insulted by the price?

Only if you normally buy cheap foam tempurpedic pillows at Walmart.

Even Bed Bath and Beyond's version is no where near the quality of the Liberator stuff. It's half the height and doesn't have the right angle to be very useful as a sexual positioning tool.

Of course, I was skeptical, too.
Right up until I got one.

Now? I praise the Liberator gods every night and am buying a Ramp to go with my Wedge next month.

It's THAT good.

See, this is exactly how I felt about it, but that's why I wanted to hear some testimony from people who actually used it. I thought surely it must be pretty amazing if they can sell for that price!

I have to admit, your post is pretty convincing. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

Have you tried the wedge/ramp with the restraints? If so, do they have the same level of quality as the rest of the product?

...I do buy cheap pillows from places like Walmart. That's exactly the point. I am a college student that is working hard to pay for tuition BY HERSELF as well as take care of rent and groceries. Sorry I don't go to boutiques when it comes to furnishing my bed.

In my post I was saying that while Liberator gear looks great, it isn't necessary for someone on a budget. I've never had any particular problems with positioning before, and I'm constantly discovering new ones. Still, even if I did, I'd rather mess about with my "cheap Walmart" pillows for a few seconds to remedy the situation. I have never been fucking and thought "so little variety of positions...if only I had several hundred dollars to spend on pillows!"

I felt the same way before hand, being skeptical about the price. But seriously, it is completely worth it!

Right. But for those who do want and need help with positioning (and some do need the help due to health problems, etc) they're well worth the cost and cannot be replaced by a pillow or two that don't do the same thing and certainly don't do it as well.

It's totally okay to not want to spend the money on something you don't want nor need. But to say something else works just as well or that the price is an insult...

Eh. Those thins just aren't quite true.

It's rather like using strawberry kool aid instead of strawberries and their juice to make shortcake.

You could.
But if you really want or need shortcake, it's pretty much not going to be the same at all. And the strawberries are probably worth their cost.

That's a very good question. A lot of times I wonder the same thing. My husband and I are on an extremely tight budget right now-still in college, with a baby-and can't do this-We have more important things to spend our money on. It depends really on your income level, and how much you want one. I'd say you must really want it and dream about it before spending the money, so that way, you'll appreciate getting the furniture when you actually get it. Also, maybe try getting a couple thousand points like I am for that set of wedges from Liberator. I want the black ones so bad! So maybe Eden Points are a great way of getting them. After all, I'm not spending money. Just time.

They make a lot of wedge type pillow meant for people suffering from acid reflux and that sort of thing. I've read things about people using those as inexpensive substitutes. Anyone tried it?
