I feel that the expensive toys don't really have as many different features on them as they should for the money. The only plus about the expensive toys (ex. Jopen) is that most of them are rechargeable. They all do the same thing.... Vibrate and make you orgasm.
Are the Expensive toys really worth the money? Are they any better than cheaper toys?

The quality and longevity of the material and motors make a big difference. I buy one high end item, a few medium end items and some lower end items every month to get the variety and to build up my quality toys.

Some are, some aren't.
One of my favorite vibrators ever, the Wahl, sells for about $15 - and yet it manages to have the strongest, rumbliest vibrations of any vibrator I've ever encountered.
But on the other hand, my all-time favorite sex toy, the Eroscillator, costs $140, plus an additional $40 for my favorite attachment. I've never found a more reliable way to get myself off, during sex or during solo play.
Most of my Lelo toys are great and well worth the money, but some (e.g. the original Tiani) were surprisingly weak or poorly designed for their price tag.
There are luxury toys that are great and there are luxury toys that suck. You have to do research and read the reviews to find out which is which.

I think Girly Juice is spot on. The example of the Wahl is a good one, as well as the poor performance of the Tiani. In our case, we have the Tiani II.

Let me say that the original post is also for the most part wrong. The manufacturing of a luxury toy usually means a great deal of study has been employed to achieve the maximum pleasure. Not all are successful, but you at least have a greater probability. Inherent with a luxury toy is usually the quality of materials, such as silicone or type of rechargable battery, like lithium. Also, like Girly Juice, we have the Eroscillator. It is quite a few years old, but it works like new. And, it remains my wife's favorite.
The difficulty is that each person is different in how they may respond to a toy. A person who loves the Hitachi may find no satisfaction in using the Eroscillator. The opposite is true as well.
Affordability, should also be part of the equation. Personally, we can afford mistakes trying out new toys. We have an armoire full of expensive mistakes. So, if money is an issue, I would recommend less expensive exploration of quality toys. Also, I would suggest reading all the reviews and discussions of any toy which might peak your interest. A place to begin might be the We-Vibe Salsa or Tango, on sale or with points. We have these and they are excellent quality. Additionally, I use them to replace other toys which use bullets. It so improves them.
Oh! I strongly suggest if you have a partner, to have a discussion before you make a purchase. This causes less blame to occur, and more anticipation and excitement in exploring together. Nothing worse than buying what you think is perfect, only to have it rejected. I speak from experience.

It really depends. I have toys on all ends of the economic range. I have found good ones at all levels and ones that don't work for me. My biggest disappointment on a luxury vibe is the eroscillator. It just doesn't do much for me. I have been happy with all my Lelos and Jopens.

depends on the toy really but yes we've gotten the eroscillator and it's seems to be a quality toy compared to lower cost ones we've previously purchased
