The Hitachi is pretty awesome and crazy strong, but something about it makes my skin really itchy. I think it's the odd plushy texture on the head, since smooth back massagers don't bother me. With that in mind, I'd go for the Fairy if I was to get another wand.

They're both good, and comparably strong, but with the Fairy you have the dial so you can adjust the intensities instead of just low (strong) and high (very strong).

I had the same choice and went for the Fairy. I'm glad I did. I think it depends on how you want to use it. I find being able to adjust by the dial much more effective than just two speeds.
I can get tons of orgasms with it, but being able to "back off" a little is essential to me to be able to keep going without it being unpleasant.
I've heard great things about the Mystic Wand, too - and it seems a great choice if you like patterns.

I don't have either of them, but I'd get fairy over hitachi because I think Hitachi will be too strong for me and at lest with fairy you cam adjust it.

I have both. I prefer the Magic Wand. It's vibrations are deeper.

You can adjust the intensity of the Fairy Wand by a rotating dial. You'd have to purchase a separate power controller for the HMW to do that, because out of the box it has just two speeds.

I love my Hitachi, I did vote for the Fairy though... I have had a chance to handle all of the various sizes of Fairy (and even have a Fairy Baby floating around on my desk right now), they are pretty awesome! I ordered the rechargeable Fairy direct from the distributor in January (I do not recommend it) and am sadly still waiting for it to be shipped! Luckily, I have been in contact with the "head guy" over there and he is making sure it goes out next week, with a few freebies thrown in for all of the inconvenience.

I would recommend the Hitachi. I've heard that some feel the Fairy's vibrations are buzzy and some with a "Clit O Steel" can't get off with them. With the Hitachi, you can always mute the vibrational strength with a blanket or a sheet or your panties. But, you can't make the Fairy any stronger by any means. That way, as you work your way up, you can remove layers of fabric and still have a good working massager if you decide to go bareback with super vibrational speed.
Of course, I also recommend the Wahl 7 in 1 Two Speed Massager. It's the best toy in my collection. I rely on it, and use it virtually every time we have sex or I play alone, along with other toys. It's actually deeper than the Hitachi and a lot quieter. It's the best toy ever, IMO. Ugly as sin and more\ fun.

I'd say go with the Hitachi. I don't have one but I've heard so many good things about it. I hear it can also be numbing, so be careful!

I have both, and the hitachi has far more rumbly and deep vibrations. When you apply pressure to the fairy, the vibrations aren't as strong. So, I'd say the fairy has more buzzy surface vibrations. I recommend the hitachi all the way, but the fairy is still sufficient for those that need more power.
