Is this product worth buying. I am kind of a stickler and want to know that I am spending my money on a product that I will use for a while. And does it last?

If you want something that lasts, get silicone instead of rubber. Look around this site and read product reviews to get an idea of the best products.

Yeah, rubber holds onto bacteria and is more likely to disintegrate. Silicone would be a more worthwhile investment.
