Lelo Smart Wand large Vs. Hitachi magic wand. Is it really worth 3x as much?

Contributor: Dreaus Dreaus 08/03/2012

My wife has expresed interest in a wand type vibe. I am looking at getting her one but I dont know which of the two I should get her. I have no problem spending the extra, but i just want to know if its worth it.

I can only speak about the Hitachi vibrator which turned out very well. Here's a link to the review I did on the Hitachi and what I thought about it.

I did a quick comparison.... link

Hitachi

Pros
Powerful
cheaper price
doesn't require batteries

Cons
Porous head (it's not plastic...it's a rubber)
Only two speed options
No patterns
has to plug into the wall
Large bulky toy that can't easily be used during intercourse (Solo toy mostly)
Ugly

Smart Wand

Pros
Powerful
Multiple speeds and functions
Silicone
Rechargeable
Size options (Medium and Large)
Splash proof (says waterproof but open charging port)
color options

Cons
Not as powerful as many would hope
Large bulky toy that can't easily be used during intercourse (Solo toy mostly)
Vibrates all the way down the handle (hands go numb)
Expensive

Overall it really depends on what you are looking for. I don't like either one of them as a clitoral vibrator because they can't direct vibrations directly to your clit. They just vibrate everything. I wouldn't recommend either of them, if you are looking for a vibrator to use during intercourse. They are far too large for that. If you are looking for a back massager they are good options. My pick out of the two is the Smart wand for a massager. That is the only use I have for both of them.

I have a Fairy too. The Rechargeable one. In case the OP is interested....I prefer my Fairy wand over both the Hitachi and the Smart Wand. It's smaller and can focus better right where it needs to go...The CLIT!

Wow this is really helpful, you pretty much just summed it all up! I haven't had either but I like the look of the lelo better; just the fact that it's cordless, nonporous, and has the smart touch tech makes it worth the extra for me!

Thanks Beck for sharing your thoughts! That is a great comparison!

@ the OP the wand I use most frequently the the inspire wand. I like how it has adjustable speed, small size, super power, is more rumbly than buzzy and has a detachable silicone head. On the con side it does have a cord and it overheats after 15-20 minutes.

I have the hitachi and I love it! I don't have either of the lelos. I worry the med is too weak. And the large is too big and expensive to appeal to me so far. Maybe someday.

I sat for a month and tried deciding which massager to get.. ultimately, it depends on what she is looking to use it for. If you will both use it more for back/body massaging, then the hitachi and the smart wand would be better choices. However, if you will use it also for solo play and/or use during sex, I recommend the couture pink inspire. It is powerful, a decent price, and it is much smaller than the hitachi/smart wand.

I bought the couture pink inspire and I absolutely love it!!! It's great for back rubs but it's even better for solo play and for use during sex because of it's small size. Also, it comes with different attachments which is my favorite part!

You should seriously consider investing in something like the Eroscillator or the Smart Wand by Lelo. The Hitachi is too intense for clitoral stimulation. At first I'm sure it felt great but it will soon counteract itself. The vibration is so intense that it will cause desensitization through nerve damage and micro-tears. You can rehabilitate the area using toys with medical grade silicone... that is the exact purpose for the Eroscillator. Please do not ever use the Hitachi for anything other than muscle relief... on the low setting.
