That whether or not he's comfortable with it his partner has a right to explore their sexuality, that there is nothing to be intimidated by or feel insecure about (it's just silicone, glass, metal etc), that it's not a replacement for him (I'm sure he jerks off, maybe the partner is tired of their hand, which also isn't a replacement for him), and that if he has issues with it that's something he needs to consider/re-think and has nothing to do with his partner.

It's been said above, but the "seriously, man, toys aren't going to/can't replace you" thing can't be emphasized enough. From what I understand, that--and often some sexually conservative viewpoints--is one of the most frequent reasons for some men feeling uncomfortable with sex toys.
