metallic paint disaster

Contributor: oliverHyde oliverHyde
One of my roommates has a vibrator with a shiny metallic paint on it that came off inside her. I was really shocked to hear this since she says she bought it from a very reputable store.

Has anyone else ever had this happen?

I have. It was a bullet with a 'chrome' paint finish. It came off in flecks, but they were maleable, like little plastic bag pieces. I suspect it was the silicone lubricant. It never bothered me though, never made me sick, gave infections, anything.

Was she using a silicone based lubricant? I wonder if such a lube can affect paint at all.

I'm fairly sure she was using water-based since we get loads of it free on campus. Free is much cheaper than silicone lube, especially if you're a student.

I would put chrome finished toys in a tied condom before inserting. Or thoose "hand painted" ones as well.

I've never had this on a toy as yet, but I wouldn't been entirely surprised if it did happen. Just thinking of painted plastic in general, on toys/bikes/outdoor furniture/whatever, it always seems really prone to flaking after a lot of friction.
