Can you get addicted to your vibrator? According to Tristan Taormino, no, you can't! While your body can get used to the same type of stimulation after awhile which can make it difficult to orgasm with other stimulation, it isn't an addiction. Your vibrator also won't numb or damage the clitoris either.

If you're worried, she recommends switching up the type of stimulation on a regular basis. You could use a vibrator this time, your hand the next, and switch up the types of vibrators too. She does mention that, if you use a vibrator for a very long time, you could numb yourself for a short period of time, but it's just temporary, and if you give your favorite toy a break for awhile, the feeling will come back.

I never thought I was addicted, but I have numbed myself in the past. I had to swear off using my bullet for about six months and now I only use it one or twice a day instead of every single time I want to get off.

I literally threw out my hitachi because it got so it would just numb me without getting me off. To the point where I'd get sore and chafed. Eff that. Trashcan time and new toy time.

That's one of my worst fears about the Hitachi and exactly why I haven't tried it. :/

That was what kept me from getting it sooner. Haha. I'm glad I did, though. I do miss the days of getting off in a minute or two with it. Looks like I'll just have to use some other toys for a while.

I've heard a few different sides of this. I know you can become addicted to one constant form of stimulation to a point that you can't get off on anything else. There's specific forms of sex therapy just for it.

I've never been afraid that I'd become addicted to a vibrator (though I think I'm becoming addicted to collecting vibes and other toys!), but I was a bit worried about it making me numb. Good to know that if it ever happens, it'll only be temporary.

I find myself forcing myself to use another toy on occasion.
I don't know that it makes it impossible to orgasm any other way but it certainly does make it take a bit longer on occasion.

I mean...sometimes I think I'm kind of addicted, but only because I love my vibrators & would be really sad if I couldn't use them anymore. I've experienced some temporary numbness if I overuse (like for hours) my Hitachi, but it goes away within 24 hours.

I have not ever believed being addicted to a vibe was possible, but I have numbed myself for a good long day before. Never any longer than a whole day, but Ill tell ya, it was not fun! If we use a vibrator before oral I get numb and cannot feel the oral It only happens with certain vibes and if they're intense. With the cliterrific cup, it's pretty intense, but it never numbs me and I can still feel oral just fine! We tested that tonight. Lol. I used to freak when it'd go numb for a long time.

I'm definitely not addicted to vibrating toys, I circulate my toy usage among vibrators and dildos. I do not overuse vibrators during playtime, so I have never experienced numbness due to vibrator abuse.
