What is up with the BTC?

Contributor: Darling Dove Darling Dove
So originally, the BTC came out, reviews came out, and it was rated as a weaker vibe with weird controls and well, seemed to be on the low-average end of the scale.

A comment was made from the company that it'd be worked on.

Months later, almost everyone gets a BTC to review. Most love it- but some still say its weak and wonky.

I am so confused about this toy that it is not even funny. I am sure from what I've read that they changed something about it- so did the people who're still saying its weak get an old toy? Were the initial reviewers in possession of a clit-o-steel?

I'm just so confused. I can't rate any reviews of this toy until I know what happened because I dont know if someone is being un-necessarily negative or if they just got one of the older toys. Hell, even though I'm convinced, nobody has even said for sure that something's changed- and I havent seen someone compare the old and new BTC to see if there is anything different.

And yes, this was 'explained' to me on twitter but I came out more confused before the explanation than after.

So EF/reviewers/people
Was it changed? Were all the toys from the latest review batch new? Is it possible EF could confirm/deny the change suspicions (if it was changed, they'd probably be notified when they got new inventory)? If an old toy still exists at the warehouse could the old and new be compared, or could a new model be sent to someone with a first gen BTC for comparison?

I know I'm one of the few people without a BTC or Layaspot at this point, and it sucks cause Layaspot seems to be the standard by which medium strength clit vibes are rated, but I am really so confused about this and looking at a pile of reviews where some love it and say its so amazing and other say they hate it.. I'm confused, so how could potential purchasers not be confused?

I wish Nomi Tang would have just released BTC2 like we-vibe made the we-vibe 2. It would have solved all the confusion issues. Anywho... can anyone help me out here?

To my knowledge (and upon checking with other EF staff) the BtC has not been updated, yet.

I, honestly, think this all comes down to personal preference. I've reviewed toys that I think were practically useless their vibes were so weak. And yet someone, somewhere writes a review about how they have managed to get off with it.

The LAYA is a perfect example of this. It's a pretty popular toy. Lots of people have reviewed it. Not everybody has loved it, but plenty have. I hate it. It's so NOT for me, I think the vibes are ridiculously weak. But the BtC worked for me in spades. And it's worked for, from what I've seen, the majority of folks who have reviewed it.

You could take the overall group opinion, which has been on the favorable side, when considering the BtC, but you'll probably be happier if you figure out which toy reviewers opinions have matched your own, historically, and see what they have to say on the subject.

I think it's quality control issues, too. Any time someone is manufacturing motors, you have them.

Personally, I've had two layaspots. My first one? Very weak, very boring. I was kind of astounded as to why anyone like it. The second? MUCH stronger. And Fun Factory is an established, quality company.

So it happens to everyone.

I think each toy is just a wee bit different.

I was torn between buying my wife the BTC or BCurious. Based on reviews I chose the BCurious. After our first try with it last night, I'm sorry to say it doesn't look like a good choice for my wife - she likes really strong vibes which the BCurious did not deliver.

But the thing is so damn cute - and well made, she says that she wants to try it a few more times - her preferences (and I suspect many other women) can vary widely.

For example - she adores the Decadent Indulgence. The 4 AAs deliver noticeably strong power to both the rotating shaft and clit bumper. On the other hand we have the newer Ultimate Decadent Indulgence - it has only 3 AAs and has noticeably less power - she can completely stop the rotation of the shaft by squeezing her PCs. However, on more than one occasion the weaker cousin drove her to explosive extended orgasms - other times it's just a 'warm-up'.

Not only do products vary as Carrie Ann pointed out, our preferences vary - that must be why we all seem to own a couple dozen options!

I believe that it's the old version, because I believe that Carrie Ann's was the first review on it and hers seemed similar to the one that I received. I am not sure what everyone else received, however, so I cannot say.

For me, it was not the vibrations that were the problem. They were rumbly, and the noise was a bit annoying, but they were alright. Then again, my partner does not really prefer extreme vibrations, so the vibrations are just fine, the highest being even a bit much. Her clitoris is very sensitive. What really made me rate it what I did was the controls of the vibrator, as they were difficult to use. Instead of just gliding my fingers across it to increase or decrease the intensity, I had to make a swiping motion, and that somtimes didn't even work. It was really aggravating. I would have preferred a regular button-operated control system as opposed to something innovative if it's not going to work! My batteries were completely new, too.

To be fully honest, I had not even known that a new version was coming out or that a new version had already come out. I do not believe that mine is a new version.

I got mine from Babeland when it first came out so definitely the original. In terms of power, the vibrations were rumbly and diffuse - pretty impressive for their power source (2 AAAs) but NOT in the grand scheme of things. If you compare it to an electric vibe or something which runs on 4 AAs, of course it wouldn't measure up.

With that said, I would recommend the BTC over the Bcurious if you prefer diffuse, rumbly vibrations. To me, a weaker but rumbly vibe will always feel more impressive than a stronger but high pitched vibe. Vibrations that are only surface level are barely discernible to me.

Still, the controls on BTC, while innovative, could use some improvements. Good idea, not quite perfect execution

Hello everybody!

Sorry to keep you waiting for a quick insider explanation: the vibration intensity on the first batch of Better than Chocolate may indeed have been a bit lower than in the current ones as we figured out from the first reviews coming in that some of you would like to see slightly stronger vibrations. We always listen to feedback and try to make our good products even a bit better. Overall the BTC remains the same, and also the units from the first batch should work great for most of us.
As a compact, design-focused clitoral vibrator, the BTC naturally has limitations in its intensity. We will release some stick-type vibes very soon and more models will follow later this year. Eventually there should be a Nomi Tang vibe to match everybody's taste.
I appreciate the feedback that all of you are giving me and other brand owners very much. It helps me and my team tremendously in developing our new products. I will try to follow your discussions as much as possible. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you and contact me directly via nomi (at) nomitang.com.

Yours,

Nomi

Is there any specific way to know which batch a certain one came from?

Thank you so much for replying!

@DarlingDove I will say that my BTC is still rather weak in terms of vibration on all levels but high. The only issue I have had is the control pad. It is very sensitive at times and other times I can't get it to work at all.

Hi Newme!
Not really, no - but the number of first-generation BTC is relatively low and most BTC now on stock in the market should feature the slightly stronger motor. I can confirm that all BTC sold here at Eden Fantasys are from our latest batch.
Keep your eyes open for my new toys about to be launched very soon.
Xoxo, Nomi
