Thankfully I've avoided foul-smelling toys for the most part. Probably the worst I've come across is that shower-curtain smell you get with jelly toys (I also got it with one TPR silicone toy, but the smell eventually faded from that one).

Jelly that smelled like a really strong, nasty pool toy.

yeah there is nothing quite like that jelly straight out of the box smell! I washed it a few times thinking there was something wrong with it!

To me one of my jelly toys smelled like a stinky black marker. It was so strong, yuck!

If you stick to silicone, glass, and metal you won't encounter smells at all. And if silicone picks up a smell, soaking it in a baking soda solution before washing it will take care of it.
