I seem to have acquired quite a few rechargable toys and I was wondering what my EF friends do with their rechargables. I will list the possibilities I am thinking, but I really want to know what you do and why. I am especially concerned about the toys I have that I rarely use. All advice is appreciated!
When do you recharge your rechargables?

I only have a few rechargeable toys, and I don't really care for them, so I have only charged them once - the time before I first used them.

When it dies it goes on the charger. So every few months or so.

Usually when they die, I'm not good at charging anything...my laptop, phone, etc all end up dieing on my before I remember to charge them.

I have heard that for the better health of a battery, it is advisable to let it discharge until the power runs out. Some rechargeable batteries develop a concept called 'memory'. If you keep a rechargeable battery fully charged, throughout the battery's design period, it will actually shorten the life of the battery. By allowing the battery to run out and then recharge the battery, it will actually maintain the health and design period of a batteries life! This concept has been proven and advised on 'battery powered' computers.

So if I have a toy I rarely use should I just charge it before using it? Is it bad for the battery to be sitting around with a low charge?

If I use the toy often enough I will recharge it after each use, because it's a major disappointment if it's not ready the next time I want it!! It depends on the toy's popularity with me lol.
07/08/2012
I recharge when I notice a power decrease.
07/08/2012
Sometimes I let them drain completely, as PassionateLover mentioned, for the good of the battery. Most of the time I'll recharge when I think of it or when I noticed that it needs it.
07/08/2012
I wait for the toy to die, or nearly die, and then charge it the next time I remember to start charging it during that window of time when it's too late in the evening for anyone to walk in on me, but too early for me to worry about trying to sleep with something on the charger. The dang things all blink insanely brightly, and the charger is right next to my bed. Well, the Sasi doesn't blink, but the Lelo toys do, and they drive me crazy. I actually avoid using them sometimes just because I dread that blinking during charging.

It depends on the type of battery. I think with most rechargeables today it is wise to recharge as often as possible.

From what I have read or have been told, keep the toy (battery) in a cool dark place until needed. Then charged it up before using. Oh yes, a digital camera that you don't use for an extended period of time should be discharged for storage.

I don't use my rechargeables too frequently, so I just charge them whenever I think they needed to be recharged.

Thanks for all the responses! I just wanted to be sure I wasn't neglecting my toys!

We have too many toys. We recharge when we know we are going to have playtime. One reason I still prefer batteries and wish HIGH END toys offered that option.

I tend to guess. If I've been using it a fair bit then I figure it could probably use a charge, so I plug it in.

When I notice a power decrease! I love my rechargeables!!

Sadly, I don't own a rechargeable toy yet!

For me really depends cause even having rechargeable toys my FAVE runs on AA batteries

I have 2 rechargables that I hardly ever use, form 2 and vr9. They were both expensive, but since I got Uma I lost all intrest in my vr9, and form 2 was a stupid mistake. I wonder if I should charge them every month or so in spite of not using them.
07/09/2012
yes i do
07/09/2012
WE-Vibe salsa has to be recharged after every use. My Lelo Liv only needs to be recharged after 4 or so uses

Yesterday and this morning I recharged all my rechargables whether they needed it or not.

I just wait until the power runs out to recharge the toy.

We try and recharge when we see some of the power slipping away, which for most of our rechargeables is about once a month of so.
09/07/2012
Well, I recharge after a few uses or when I notice the power isn't as strong. I don't know if that's best for the toy or what the deal is, but that's what I do.
