Has anyone found an issue with having a substantial age difference and different sexual energy? Is this age or could it be another problem?

Alan was fifteen years older than I and made jokes about "keeping up" with me, but no it wasn't really a problem. Everyone is different though, and for some people the sex drive can decline with age.

I think a variety of factors could be at play here not just age. One may have to take into account health, exercise habits, genetics, etc. I don't know this from experience because I'm only 4 months older than my husband and before that 9 months older than my previous lover.
