Are you a cougar?

Some of us cringe at the use of the term, but others love and embrace the concept.

I have to admit, heading towards the big 4-0 myself, I am warming up to the idea that it's not the end of my sex life as I know it, but just the next chapter.

They are saying 40 is the new 20, but what do you think about how society views women over 40, from a sexual perspective?

I think this can be a really good thing if not exploited into to ridiculous sensationalizing and profiteering...oooh wait a minute! It kinda has been - well then take it back from the corny TV shows and Cougar Schools and Cougar cruises (wait, those might be fun) and just enjoy your life. There definitely has been a shift in the last few years, from what I see - so I do believe that people in general are more open sexually and more accepting.

Personally, my 30's have been awesome - I am sure my 40's will be too.

ok, I might lose "guy points" for this...but here goes:

Men don't care how old you are as long as you're attractive.

If you don't tell him how old you are (or shave off a few years), he simply won't know.

you can be a cougar at an age far below 40. There's a handy dandy formula! If your partner is half your age plus seven, or younger - you are couging it up.

By that equation, if a 30 yr old woman dates a 22 yr old guy she's a cougar, but two years later when she's 32 and he's 24 she's not a cougar any more.
I didn't know any body had come up with an equation.

I think society is more accpeting of sexuality and more understanding that people over 40 are and can be sexual.

My mom could be called a cougar but I think wild cat is more suitable because she's sort of crazed. I can see how people over 40 can be sexual when I listen to my mom rant about the men she's dating and fooling around with.

I guess society may be more open to the thought of people maintaining their sexual lives beyond a certain age (why wouldn't they?). I for one hope I have a libido as long as my man has the desire for intercourse.

I find it weird thinking of my granparents being sexual though(they're in their late 60's). That might be due to the fact that they're my grandparents and I don't want to know that information but in general I don't care how old someone is sex/lovemaking should not be reserved for a particular age group.

I have no real issue with anyone, male or female, being with someone younger than they are.

But that whole predatory thing? The caricature that some women have become in their weird determination to have a "boy toy"? Or even the standard dirty old man portrayal, the whole Lolita thing...

Those things creep me out horribly.
