Pubic hair removal (other than the pubic mound) ?

Contributor: Alt Alt
I am curious how some guys out there deal with removal of the pubic hair other than on the public mound.

Personally I am able to just tweeze the hair on the pubic mound (and will eventually try waxing), but when trying to tweeze around the base of the shaft, on the shaft(especially the underside), on the balls, and around the anus/taint, then it really hurts!

I basically just shave the pubic hair there, but the problems are:
1. You have to do it do often
2. The base of my penis will sometimes get irritated by the sharp hair at the base or on the shaft while sleeping
3. When shaving the anus, taint, or butt cheeks, serious irritation and red bumps occur throughout the day the more I sit and walk around. (and continues for days until the hair grows back.)

So I am wondering what your techniques are?
Have some guys waxed the shaft, base, balls, taint, anus, or butt cheeks?
I interested in trying but if it hurts so much just to pull 1 hair out in these areas with tweezers, I cannot image what it would be like all at once.

I actually bought an Emjoi Epilator, but that thing cause way too many red bumps to be useful (Ill stick to tweezing the pubic mound, and that thing isn't going near the balls, shaft, or butt haha)

Perhaps I just need to suck it up, and get used to tweezing everything?
Has anyone ever hurt themselves tweezing their anus or balls? (I have sometimes with the shaft, but a little scared to pull more in other places)

You think ladies don't have the same problems? When you shave, what cream are you using? And does your routine include any aftershve product?

Way too much work for me.

I use clippers for the easy to reach stuff and then just manipulate the sack to get even shaves. As for reaching down and 'round back, no thanks. It just grows back too itchy.

@Adriana
I am not sure if you females do or not.
But certainly in some porn with lots of closeups (like female masturbation kind of stuff) I hardly even see them have a lot or red bumps on their butt or around their vulva.

When I shave, I just do so in the shower with water, although I never tried an aftershave.
The main reason I got into tweezing the pubic mound is because it stops the hairs from being so damn sharp, and lasts a lot longer. I just wish I could stand it enough to do it on the balls and under region.

@Mr. Sauce
What do you mean by clippers?

My guy shaves daily. Idk how he can do it without irritation!

Alt, it's likely that porn stars are using some quality stuff. If you can afford it, I like Intimmo Kitty Kreme but the bottle here is tiny and not worth the price. Get it elsewhere. And while not exactly a shaving product per se, Monistate makes a chafing powder-gel (Soothing Relief is the name f the line) which helps WONDERS with my irritation. I am incredibly sensitive to shaving so these products make life livable (but aren't perfect). I've also heard cool water on the area after shaving helps close up pores and, as a given, loose fitting boxers that let you breathe will help a bit. I only wear cotton panties after shaving to minimize irritation.

I mean, not just porn stars. Just like regular girls (such as over @ FtvGirls.com), but perhaps you females have less coarse pubic hair than us males...

Anyway, have you tried waxing before?

My pubes are pretty coarse, I think women are just a bit better at the whole thing because it's expected. Practice makes perfect. And we talk about it a lot (if you haven't noticed, heh).

I have only had my bikini line waxed which was painful (but I'd do it again I suppose) and did involve some in growns, unfortunately. Actually bruising, too. The chick didn't do it well. I've done some other waxing at home but, honestly, I'm not good enough at it for it to be viable option to shaving so I just stick to that. Plus, I think it's a bit easier for someone else to wax difficult spots.

I had my eyebrows waxed once and it was just about the worst pain I have had, so waxing the pubic area is definitely out.

I use a Schick Quattro for women, and have not had one single instance of irritation, red bumps, or anything. This is the first time I have not had those problems when I shave, and to me, it's a miracle. My husband also uses it for the areas he shaves.

I no longer shave but just trim the hair to a decent length and shave the bikini area. When I did try waxing I found it extremely difficult to do myself. You just anticipate the pain and don't rip the strips off fast enough.

I just shave on a regular basis, I think by pubes have become accustomed to it. My b/f, on the other hand, just trims...says it scares the shit out of him to have a razor near his balls.

Funny enough, the balls are actually the easiest to shave (so that I have found).
I have only cut the skin there once but that was because I lost my grip on the razor.

The hardest so shave has to be the taint(perineum) or at the end of perineum where the anus starts.

I suspect I am really good with pain in that area. I once had a GYN comment on how well I'd do during labour. LOL

My man uses clippers too. He does only the mound the balls and around the shaft.

I would suggest the same things as Adrianna in terms of handeling the irritation. I use baby powder when I get irritated if I shave near the anus. If I wax around my anus I have no issues with irritation, bumps or ingrown hair.

It isnt as painful to wax that area as you'd think. In fact it is less painful for me to wax my backside then the area right inside the thigh. Such a sensitive spot. I don't have much trouble waxing but I find it such a bother to clean up.

Tweezing? Good God, man! How much free time do you have?

I use an electric razor which also has clippers and a set of guards, this works pretty quickly and allows me to choose different lengths for different areas; #1 guard on the pubic mound and ass, shaved on the shaft and balls. There are areas that just don't respond well to shaving and the quick reappearance of stubble frustrates. Jane prefers the softness of short hairs on my ass to the irritation of porcupine cheeks. (Though the clippers sometimes give me grief ;o)

I have also tried Nair For Men on my ass and perineum with mixed results. Follow the directions carefully and, like they say, DO NOT RUB or you might get a nasty rash. And whatever you do, don't use it on your nut sack! The effect is similar to shaving; you'll have stubble the next day, but it leaves fewer bumps and in-grown hairs.

You may find good waxing information (and perhaps some inspiration) in the Sex Is Fun podcast episode #162, Hair Removal (MP3/iTunes). I have been tempted to try waxing myself but it's just not something I could pull off alone (no pun intended). There are places you can go to get it done, assuming you can shake off any related fears. I'm toying with the idea of having it done professionally once to see if I like the result and to get some pointers for Jane when I ask her to do it!

If you get hooked on professional waxing, it could really add up over a lifetime. In which case, the up-front expense of laser hair removal could save you money (and time) in the end.

Good luck Alt!!

I am so in love with the Fusion Razor with the AAA battery. Its the only one I would shave my face, neck and privates with. Five blades and never a nick, and you can run it in all directions. If I gotta shave twice a day, its got to be a good razor, the other disposables, bics, were scarring me up or leaving bumps.

I was shaving my head for a while when I was younger. That was a nightmare and made me hate disposable razors.

The only hair I have on my body is on top of my head. I keep everything else smooth. I shave my face chest and underarms, but for my cock and balls and my legs I found that a product called Magic works wonders. It's a facial hair remover for guys who get irratated from shaving. I tried nair and it burns if your not careful and shaving doesn't last long. Magic is great, just rub it on and wash it off, I use a defoliating glove to get all the hair off. I've never had any burns and the hair usually takes quite a few days to start growing back. It didn't work well on my chest or under arms for some reason. Di loves my body smooth and I feel the same about hers. It's more fun to spend time kissing and licking each other than picking hairs out of our mouths.

I've been shaving for several years and found that shaving frequently is better than occasionally. If I don't shave frequently I get ingrown hairs that are a pain - and the big advantage of shaving frequently is that I'm always ready when my lady is!

Like Misha - I absolutely love the Fusion razor - the slight vibe is very effective at hair removal. We've also tried the Coochie Cream - which worked well but we found out that the stuff is basically hair conditioner! I buy a relatively inexpensive conditioner and use as much as I want - just make sure to rinse the blades frequently.

Gradually my wife has come along - I never pressured her to shave, I only asked that she keep things trimmed. But once she tried shaving and found that it increased her sensitivity she started doing it much more. Then once she discovered how well the Fusion razor works - she's now a devotee & I had to buy another Fusion razor!

A nice little side benefit for her is that I shave my face more often to avoid chafing her when doing oral - which I absolutely love now that there's no more flossing to remove stray hair!

I've got to buy stock in Gillette - we're making them a ton of cash!

Haha, yea seriously. Seems like I can only do it when I have a few hours to spare. It does take A LOT of time. But with some sharp gripping tweezers with a large head, then it can take about 3 hours to get most of it.
Around the base of the penis though can take another 3 hours since those need to usually be removed from the skin 1 by 1 to avoid some serious pain.

I have tried electric razors before but they are never close enough.
Easier to just use a regular razor which gets an even closer (but still not smooth enough) cut.

Although what I am confused about is how Nair leaves stubble like shaving...?
I remember trying an old bottle of nair before on the side of the pubic mound, and OMG! It hurt so f-ing bad (but maybe I rubbed, I cannot remember), although it was burning while being absorbed in, and gave my skin some kind of red chemical burn for a week.

As for waxing.. hm I think I would rather face the fear of manually ripping it off than face the fear of exposing myself to someone to do it for me. Way too embarrassing. I just recently got up the courage to walk into local sex shops, haha.

Maybe when I am older I will eventually get laser hair removal, but then what would be the fun in spending all the time getting rid of it, haha.

@Misha's Amusements
-->"I am so in love with the Fusion Razor with the AAA battery."

I agree, its the only razor I ever use.
I have no idea how much the vibration helps, but it tingles when turning on for shaving the shaft, balls, and anus haha!
But it still isn't bump proof for me (the hairs are just too sharp and kill my skin within the next few days after)

@Di's Guy
Have you been able to use this "Magic" stuff everywhere other than the chest and underarms?
(like the shaft, all over the scrotum, perineum, and anus)

Is this the product? link
(Haha by the looks of it, it almost looks like some kind of prank your would get from spencers, but I might give it a try.

@Gunsmoke
I have noticed the same where frequent shaving helps to some degree, although it also ensures that the hairs are continuously sharp, so that is the only drawback it seems.

Just a razor suggestion in case you want to go that route:

Noxzema Bikini Shavers

Single blade, guarded, doesn't cut me at all and I don't even have to look when I shave down near the bottom of my vulva. It hardly ever cuts and when it does, it's not bad and usually up on the top of my mound b/c I've hit the same spot more than once. Easy to use, cheap, and tiny enough to get into small areas. I love them and have used them for years (the product, not an individual razor, lol).

Yes ALT thats what I use. I think you miss understood me. I said that magic didn't work well on my chest and underarms but, works great on my whole cock balls and legs. Yes I even rub it on my anus. I just slather it on and wait 10 minutes and rinse it off and then run water and a defoliation glove ( used for removing dead skin ) over everywhere I used the Magic and when I'm done I'm smooth as can be.

I shave my chest and pubic area (above, the junk, the taint and crack...) regularly (every third day)... I think everyone's body is different. My body doesn't give any irritation despite that I have sensitive skin... However i do have a few areas i trim down with a trimmer as shaving it causes red bumps which occurs about 2 inches above my penis all the way up to my belly button... but that's just me...

I am considering waxing and getting a male brazilian from a "best of" waxing salon here... but am a bit aprehencious due to the possible pain involved... and the cost.. I am not sure if the cost is worth not shaving for 2 weeks or so.

regardless, I have found that the venus line of razors work well for body hair, but like all shaving, you are best off with a new sharp razor, dull ones will cause many more issues and aren't worth it....

I also have found that using a shaving cream meant for women's legs works best as the hair on your body is different from that on your face... the formulas are different and they wor better down there...

after I shave i use baby oil to re- moisturize my skin and occasionally some aloe vera the next morning to take care of any day after affects.
