Have you ever used VCF?

Do your research first; "Spermicides containing nonoxynol-9 are available in many forms, such as jelly (gel), films, and foams, but not recommended by the CDC. Spermicides cause irritation and according to the CDC, studies have shown that spermicides increase the risk of HIV. Contraceptive Technology states that spermicides have a failure rate of 18% per year when used correctly and consistently, and 29% under typical use.[2]"
Nonoxynol-9 is kind of bad and strips away some of the lining from your vagina. My boyfriend is also HELLA allergic (he was crying and the condom was only on for about a minute)

I used a spermicide condom one time. I found out I too was allergic. It was awful!

Scary...

Once, and never again. It made things very unpleasant for a good week after use. Not sure what it did, but best I can figure is it seriously disturbed the internal flora and gave me a discharge the consistency and odor of wood glue.
I'll take a condom or abstinence over that any day.

That's some really good information. I'm on the pill and we just use regular condoms as a back up so we've never had to deal with spermicides but with my luck I'd probably have some sort of reaction to it. I have just never heard of these before yesterday and was wondering how many people actually use them.

A lot of people have bad reactions to ingredients in spermicides, plus no protection against STDs. I have a friend who had a really painful reaction to the foam, and she has never had allergic reactions to anything, so you can never be sure if they will bother you. If you're going to try one I'd figure out a way to do a spot test on the skin first, then a small part of it in the pubic area if your skin has no reaction.

I used it with no problems for about a year. I was on the shot, and we used this as backup birth control.

It's tricky to get in, but it's ok. Just keep in mind to keep your fingers dry that you put the film on, or it will stick to your fingers. Not fun!

I think it would burn, I'm really sensitive to a lot of things.

I have not used it.

I have never heard of this.

I used it for almost a year as my primary source of contraceptives... Untill I forgot one night and got pregnant. While I was using it though, I didn't have any complaints. Although if your fingers are at all damp, the film will stick to you.

I haven't used this. Honestly it doesn't sound too appealing.

I'm not allergic to spermicide, but I still don't want to use it. Lots of room for error, and not a high enough success rate even when used properly. That, and it looks way too messy. I like condoms for cleanup just as much as I like them for birth control.

I've used it, but never got the inserting part quite right. It's true, if your fingers are at all moist, it's going to stick. And since you're inserting up inside a wet area, yeah, not fun. Though, I never had any bad reactions to it, like bad irritations or infections, there was a different odor *down there* for a couple of days afterwards.
