Would you trust condoms from the Dollar Store?

As long as they weren't expired, I guess I'd have no issue with using them.

This is an example of a condom I'd never use:

Well, I guess it depends. Just because it comes from the dollar store does not mean it isn't just as effective as the most brands. Actually, pregnancy tests that are dollar store brand are the exact same tests my dr uses in the office. Dollar store brands can sometimes be just as good as the good.

And before anyone asks, no I wouldn't buy the pregnancy tests at the dollar store either.
the pregnancy tests are the dollar tree are actually some of the best, they were the only ones to test positive when I was pregnant with my son before the expensive brands did.

Don't shop at dollar stores much, so I don't even know they sell condoms. If they're selling a reliable brand, I don't see anything wrong with that. I buy the bulk packs for my husband at Costco, I think that's a pretty good deal.

Depends on the brand, not the store.

I probably wouldn't. I've never seen them in dollar stores around here though!

I would use the dollar store pregnancy tests. I have found they do tell you that you're pregnant sooner than the expensive ones. I am definitely not willing to try dollar store condoms though.

Timing is everything! We were just at our local dollar store and saw condoms now being sold. The pregnancy tests used to be our highlight. They're good enough to cover our non-sterilizable toys but I won't trust them for much else.

Yeah, but a lot of Dollar Stores get things from out of the country that are NOT tested by the FDA. Ever seen some of the food in those places? I've seen what appears to be lead solder on cans of fruit from China.

Most things that come into the country are never checked by any agency of any type. And if the people who run these stores can get stuff off of a broken open box car from China or G*d knows where, they WILL sell it to you, FDA or no FDA. Even brand names on products at these stores are often counterfeits.

I would not trust eye makeup from the Dollar Store, it's probably old and contains cadmium or something. I certainly wouldn't trust my desire not to become pregnant to cheap, out of the country, poor standard condoms.

You can't know from places like this if the condoms were "FDA Approved." These stores are run on shoe string budgets, they sell expired food and non FDA OKed food that poisons people every day. NEVER would I trust anything I put in my mouth, on my face or into my body to a place like this. There IS something to be said for quality and having standards. Misplaced "thrift" can result in tragedy. And from the number of food recalls from Dollar Store food, and recalls for poisoned childrens toys and baby products, I trust nothing from those places.

I think that, if it came to being low on cash and wanting protection, as long as the expiration date was ok and the box didn't look messed up, then yes, I'd be fine with getting them. I love the dollar store! Its like, Walmart for poor people (me). Although, I love Walmart too <.<; But! Yes, I think it'd be fine. As for the pregnancy test, I don't know why I never thought about the dollar store again :X That would have helped so much for discreet purchasing in the past. I pee in a cup anyway, I'm too clumsy to pee on a stick lol, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. The only thing I don't like, is the Palmer chocolate from the dollar store. Blech.

Absolutely, and a lot of the name brand condoms are not made here in the US either. I just looked it up, a lot of them are made in India. As for pregnancy test they are the same ones that are available at wal mart, just costs less. I have used them many times they told me I was pregnant all three times.

They'll probably be recalled because of lead like everything else in those stores.

That article in your post, is also just unreliable in basing your opinion on dollar store condoms on. I mean, it is clearly someones passive aggressive opinion, and they are clearly being negative. IF you were going to worry about it, you should find something more reliable to base your low opinions on. Just saying.

I can't open the link. Are they Dollar Store BRAND, or are they a name brand that the Dollar Store happens to carry? If the latter, I would have no qualms about it. But frankly, I don't think I would trust Dollar Store brand (or any generic condoms.)

You can get condoms for free at a lot of community-oriented centers, and I think all condoms have expiration date and must pass testing during manufacturing process.
