If you have a urinary tract infection, how often should you take D-Mannose?

I recently bought Now D-Mannose on Amazon, which is 100% D-Mannose powder. The only directions it has is to take 1 to 2 servings per day (which is 1 level teaspoon or 2 grams) as a "dietary supplement". I didn't buy it for that. I bought it to finally get rid of this UTI that I've had for well over a week now. Has anyone ever taken D-Mannose, especially Now D-Mannose? Any suggestions on how often I should take it?

You first need to make sure that your UTI is being caused by E.coli, D-Mannose is only effective against E.coli caused UTI's. For a UTI the dosage is usually 1 teaspoon dissolved in liquid every 3 to 4 hours.

The other thing to keep in mind is that D-Mannose is not an FDA approve treatment, so be careful taking it. I too am plaqued with chronic UTI's because I suffer from IC, but I always go to the doctor to get treatment because I want to make sure that I am being treated correctly.

Here is a link with good info on D-Mannose
