I've never waxed at home before and I recently got some wax strips (because I hate shaving but I like to be clean shaven, quite the conundrum) and tried to use them and they didn't really work for me, all they did was make me sticky and hairy any suggestions? How do you guys take care of the hair down there?
Any suggestions about waxing?

You mean bikini waxing by yourself? I would recommend just going to a professional to do that. If you mean legs, just make sure you don't put too much wax on. A thin coat should be enough, put the strip on and rip!
