Anyone still using IUD's? Have you had any problem with them.

My daughters a doctor, but she is like anyone else, conflicted about birth control. Wanting to have children in the distant future, she wants good birth control now, but nothing to do her harm. She has been on the pill for years and wants "off" and condoms, gel, and even Nuva Ring have issues. She is now thinking about an IUD, but I keep reading about infertility issues after they come out.

Anyone still using IUD's? Any problems with them?

I appreciate the feedback, really!!!

I have the implant and I actually really like it. I didn't have any of the issues that I had with the shot. I know a lot of doctors who hate IUDs and have to take them out a lot, but I think that it depends a lot on your personal anatomy.

I've had the Mirena for 2 years. I just had a check up and its where it is supposed to be. The only major complaint I have is when I have sex in certain positions he and I can feel it, and it isn't always super comfortable, and then sometimes I don't feel it at all. I was on the Depo Shot previous and switched mostly because of cost, I got basically a free implant from a government grant. I am now turning 34, so I'll have it until I'm 37 if I don't take it out earlier. That somewhat concerns me just because of my age, but I haven't had any concerns otherwise. I will say if she has never had children, take a major dose of pain relief before. My hole cervix cramped up, and I should have had a ride from the appointment. I was very uncomfortable, but that subsided by the end of the day. I had sex within a wk as I was told not to before that. The other great thing about it, my boobs are in a constant state of pre-pregnancy big. They look awesome. Between the shot and the IUD I haven't had a period in 10 years, so I love that. Every couple of years I'll have spotting, but that is normal according to my Dr.

I had Mirena and had to have it removed. After it had been in a while it started causing intense cramping that left me unable to move. The doctors thought I had some form of cancer it was so bad. We removed the IUD and it stopped completely.

I'm on Implanon now and have no complaints.

I've heard good things about iuds and the implant but the implant seems to be the better option, I'm considering it myself

I know a lot of doctors won't put in an IUD if you haven't had kids, that is the problem I ran into but I have heard too many horror stories over the IUDs. A friend of mine ended up with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease when she had her's in an had to have it removed. I hope she is able to find a form of birth control that works for her.

my wife uses it and does not really have any issues with it. Any birth control can cause problems though.

I love my paragard (I'm prone to migraines so the hormones in the Mirena aren't advised), and I work in a busy women's medical clinic and MANY of the staff have the Mirena and love love love it.

When I had it inserted I bled for 6 weeks, which can be normal. But since that, my periods are less (which is unusal) and my cramps are less too.
