Are any of you allergic to lubricated or non lubricated condoms?

Contributor: HoneyHoney HoneyHoney
I was wondering if anyone is allergic to the lube or the material that makes up the condom? Which brands can't or can you use? Can you use condoms at all?

Alan is allergic to latex, so that puts about 99% of the condom market off our charts. And the new polysoporene ones that are *supposed* to be ok for allergic folks are BS, because they're just latex with "most" of the allergens removed. Most isn't enough. For that reason we stick to Trojan Supras (polyurethane) whenever we have to use one for a toy or something.

I did have trouble with some of the water-based lubed ones before he and I got together though, so I thank goodness that the Supras are coated with silicone!

I voted other, because neither my husband or myself are allergic to condoms or the lubes generally used. However I can't seem to use the Trojan Ecstasy condoms because they make me burn. Well, more specifically the Her Pleasure Ecstasy condoms. The only thing I can think of is the silicone lube used on it. I've used the regular Ecstasies in the past without problems, but now I'm nervous to try them again.

Normally my husband and I don't use condoms but since *TMI*-- I had to have my IUD taken out and put on then pill I don't want to take any chances so we've been using them and I haven't figured out which ones yet since he threw them all together in a box and randomly grabs one in the dark, but after I'll be swollen, sore and have some irritation.

It sucks lol.

I have a latex allergy, and upon losing my virginity with my current boyfriend, I was in so much pain after that I thought I was pregnant! That was a horrible week. T_T

So we have lubricated polyisoprene condoms (Lifestyles SKYN) and they are great. For condoms. Lol.

I recently used a condom (just the basic Trojan Lubricated) to cover my Hitachi's head while I was on my period.

(We NEVER use condoms, my husband had a vasectomy over a decade ago. Anyway he brought some lubricated ones home for my son as a precaution, so I took one to use for cleanup sake.)

I didn't even have condom touching me for 3 minutes and I was BURNING! I jumped in the shower right away and even after washing I was visibly swollen for a few hours. Nowhere on the box does it say what the ingredients are either. Never will I do that again!

I'm allergic to latex, and I am not sure about the lubricants used in condoms. I can't do lubricants with glycerin in them, though.

I am in a monogamous relationship though, so we don't use condoms thanks to birth control. When I did have to use them, it was always unpleasant for me.

Also, relating to STDs, I know that latex condoms are only 70% effective for preventing HPV (which I have on my cervix now. whoot.), and I am unsure about the rates for polysporin or polyurethane condoms?
Idk, I've always wondered.

But I plan on just being with my boyfriend for now. No condom questions in my near future.

Answered for my husband. He used to be fine with condoms, but the past 2 or so years it's become too painful for him (he describes it as a burning feeling). We both assume it's the latex, since he has similar reactions to the majority of the gloves used at his work (food service). It's happened with a few different varieties, but brand-wise all we've ever used is Trojans.

I don't know if it's an allergy, but my ex used one of those tingly condoms once (it was a Trojan one, can't remember what it was called, but it was supposed to be warming) & it BURNED so incredibly bad. We never tried that one again!
