Can certain lubes hurt you if you're pregnant?

I have been trying to find info about this on the web, and of course it's always mixed. I was wondering if certain liubes could be damaging, to either you or your unborn baby? If so, which types of lubes should you avoid?

While parabens have a low rate of causing cancer in normal situations, I feel like exposing a fetus to possibly cancer causing parabens would be a terrible idea.

Luckily Eden sells a ton of lubes that don't contain parabens!

When I was pregnant I had to ask my DR this. Usually my personal lube is more than enough, so I rarely need lube. He told me to stick to water based lubes only. He didn't say why, but I didn't ask either. This was before I was into sex toys and the like.
