Do you have a lot of Freckles and Moles?

Not really a sexual health question... But I have a lot of freckles and moles on my body. And I feel like even though I use sunscreen every day I am getting more and more. Do you have a lot of freckles, and how often do you go to the dermatologist??

I just recently had two moles biopsied and then a fair amount of skin lopped off to see "what the margins" are. After it was all said and done, I'm came out clean, but both were severely to moderately pre-cancerous which fuck all logic and reason immediately translates into "CANCER" in my mind.

I've got some pretty sweet scars out of the deal. I have appointments scheduled for every six months for the next two years.

My doctor explained it to me that if you have two or three moles that are similar, then it's probably just how your body grows them. I am rarely if ever out in the sun for any extended period of time and I still find news ones all the time.

And when I say "extended", I mean more than five minutes.

Freckles are classified as "sun damage" but they're really just increased skin pigment or melanin. Some people are more prone to them than others, and genetics play a huge factor. For certain types of skin, about the only way you're going to avoid them is to wear a facekini.

Moles should be monitored, but unless they are severely asymmetrical or inflamed in some manner, they are likely harmless.

ETA: I'm not a nurse or a doctor. My comment is based on what several dermatologists have told me over the course of my life. I usually see one every six months, sometimes more often, sometimes less often.

I'm covered in freckles and have a few moles but have never seen a dermatologist. Honestly we just don't go to doctors unless we really need to.

I have a lot of freckles but there are a couple of moles I'm monitoring. In my junior year of high school, I finally had one checked out by my dermatologist. It turned out to be pre-melanoma to early stage one melanoma. It was still confined to that one area and they were able to remove it no problem. I'm really glad I got it checked because it wasn't even asymmetrical or that large. It just looked little darker than the rest of my freckles and had been that way for as long as I could remember.

Long story short, it's a good idea to see the dermatologist regularly, even if your moles or freckles don't fit into the ABCD's of skin cancer. (Asymmetrical, raised Border, unusual Color, and Diameter, larger than a pencil eraser. It's better to get a full body check every six months than wait until the moles change on their own.

Word. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. One of the ones I had removed last month had just started itching like mad and then got all flaky and I was like that's it, I'm not going to ignore this anymore and sucked it up and went to the doctor.

I wasn't worried about the one beside it, but apparently that one was worse off than the one I was worried about. The rest of the ones I was concerned about, she said they were fine.

I have a few, mostly on my face, & I usually get at least one every summer on my hand, especially if I'm driving a lot with my left hand out of the window.

Have a lot of both - I feel odd about how much the moles blend into the freckles, and rather weirded out by thinking if I didn't have the freckles and how the moles would look. Despite living in Florida, I keep out of the sun as much as possible. I probably could get rid of the freckles if I really tried.

Dermatologist ... yes, need to visit one. When I get a job so I can afford to.

I have quite a few freckles (mostly on my arms). I had my only mole removed after convincing from my mum, though it was heredity and not cancerous.
