My original family Dr is a male, fairly older man. I have been to the school clinic and saw a female dr, and i have been to the walk in clinic for a yearly pap, and seen a male dr. doesn't particularily matter, but i do feel that i am more comfortable with a female dr.
i am currently seeing a female gyno.

Before my current doctor, all my gynos were female. My last doctor left and the only one that was available for some emergency issue I was having was my now current male doctor. I find him to be much better than what my female doctors were. I'm in there a lot with UTIs and yeast infections so it's important for me to be comfortable. Plus, I was VERY neurotic when I was pregnant and I don't know how many doctors would have put up with my twice a day calls as nicely as he did.

I have had awful male doctors sub in at other clinics when I didn't have insurance that didn't even seem to know where the holes were, let alone anything else. That kinda disturbs me about male gynos in general.

The women I had, however, were overly soft and empathetic and some gave me sex lectures when I was younger like they were my mom. I wasn't a big fan of that. The mother instinct seems to kick in with the females.

As far as molestation, I kinda feel that either sex could do that just as easily, but maybe you wouldn't think a woman would be as likely. I feel just as nervous about that with either sex, honestly.

Men. All the way. Every female doctor I've had, from general practioners to gynocologists have been absolute nightmares. Men just, for some reason, in this particular field, seem to listen better. That's been my experience, at least.

I've only seen female doctors so far. Personally, I am just more comfortable talking to another woman/having a vaginal exam from a female doctor.

I don't have a preference, personally. I've had good and bad doctors of both genders. For me, I care more about the individual doctor, the rapport I have with them, how they treat me, if they listen, etc. I currently have a female ob/gyn ... more
This pretty much states my opinion on it. I have a female gyno at the moment and she's pretty cool for the most part. Sometimes she messes up on my birth control prescription refills but I usually get it straightened out quickly afterwards.
