Has doing a brazilian wax ever led to the fallowing?

Contributor: FaerieLove FaerieLove
I've heard from girls I know that horrible things have happened to them while receiving or after a brazilian wax and I was wondering if it's common or has happened to more people, so please tell me your stories.

A boss of mine had a terrible experience with her waxing session, so she decided to try laser hair removal. She regrets that decision even more because the woman was completely inexperienced and caused severe scarring on the mons. She had to go to a plastic surgeon to have him fix it. Now, the hair grows in patches so she has to shave it religiously or as she said "it looks my pussy is an eighteen year old ginger that can grow a full beard". I've never laughed so hard and felt so badly at the same time.

I've never had any big problems. Once I had a few pinprick-sized spots of blood from where hairs had been, but no big deal.

That is horrible! Does she have all her sensation down there?!
On a positive note, the ginger beardness is absolutely hilarious!

She has what she calls dead spots, but she stopped both women before they could get to the labia so all of that is still good. I just feel so badly for her, all she was trying to do was reward herself for surviving cancer.

And I just noticed a typo---I meant "can't grow...". Silly me.

That poor lady, that's so sad. I hope she sued, because that must be some kind of estheticianal malpractice, right?

The only bad things I've had happen was getting a bunch of ingrown hairs and some skin irritation too, but I get that from shaving as well so I don't really feel like that is the esthetician's fault.

I work at a spa and from what I hear from the estheticians it doesn't seem to be that common to have bad thinngs happen, though they may have something happen every once in a while. Both of them have been waxing for several years though. I tmay be different if someone is new at it.

Well that makes me feel slightly more comfortable. You work at a spa, that's awesome! Can I ask you a question then? I heard (rumour mill of course) that brazilian waxes are bad as well because the wax pot can harbour bacteria picked up from waxing genitals (such as hpv, herpes) because of double dipping the wax stick? Have you heard of this?

I would imagine she was far too humiliated to do anything about it.

no you cannot get herpes or HPV from waxing; the temperature at which the wax is help is wayy to high to let these diseases thrive.

also, these are viruses, not bacteria. there is a major difference between the two...

I have never gotten a Brazilian wax before, and the fact that some of these things have happened to people makes me even less likely to try it than I was before.

I know it is illegal to double dip, and goes against health codes so hopefully they are not doing that. I also have heard there are certain types of waxes that supposedly kill some of those things, but I'm not completely sure if that is true. You might be able to call the place and ask about it though.

I've never heard of a client getting an std from a wax. That doesn't mean it's never happened or isn't possible (actually I don't know whether or not it's possible), but in the 3 years I've been working I've never heard of anyone having that problem. I can't speak for all places or all people because I've only worked in 2 spas and have only known maybe 5 estheticians but I feel like most of them wouldn't do something that might contamininate their wax. They know that if their client gets infected, they will lose clients because bad reputations spread faster than good ones. It is not in their best interest to be lazy about things like that because they will lose a lot of money.

I know I'm probably biased in my outlook about waxing, and bad things CAN happen. Honestly though most of the time it goes just fine. Take the time to find someone who has experience and a good reputation and you will probably have a good experience.

I've never had any major problems. I did thoroughly research the options in my area first and found the places with the best health inspection scores and the estheticians with the best reviews and lots of experience. I've had a bit of irritation and the occasional ingrown, but usually there is very little pain.

I guess I'm lucky that I don't have that much hair down there to begin with so waxing isn't so bad for me..I do not like to do it at home...always go to my salon...partly so I can have Shannon do it for me...she's sooooo hot! L0L

I've considered getting a Brazilian but haven't due to the cost and the embarrassment. Now I have all these other things to worry about, too. lol

I could never do waxing because I hate letting my hair grow out even a quarter inch, long enough for the wax to grab, so I don't have any experiences to share. I shave, and certainly get some razor burn and ingrown hairs sometimes, even after years of doing so. I'd love to get laser hair removal from a professional, established place.
