Honeymoon coming up, I need a good lube.

Ok I have a questions for those of you who know a lot about lube.

Personally I have never used a lot of lubricant, so I don’t know that much about it.

I have had great irritation after sex a few times (all times that I have used lube) so I am thinking that it may be because of the lubricant we have been using..

So my question to you is, what is the safest lube out there that is available here at EF?

I’m looking for something that won’t cause irritation and won’t cause any sort of infections.

I’m not worried about the price, so if it is expensive still list it!

Start by looking at the lube you have to see what's in it. Can you narrow it down to what you think might be causing irritation? For some people it's glycerin, scents/flavorings, or citric acid. I'd start with a natural lubricant and see what that does for you. Sliquid is pretty decent place to start, though it seems (to me) that it doesn't last as long as some others. It also depends on what you are using it for.

What ones have you tried so far?

I'd say the best to go with would probably be Sliquid H2O, but compare its ingredients with the ingredients of the lubes that irritated you first.

YES - it's the best stuff on earth! Just read a recent EF post on a girl who had pain with sex until she tried YES - it comes from England - but it's worth it link

We've been using it for at least 4 years and now will not try anything else.

Safest best (in my humble opinion) lube? THIS

I say Hydra because it's safe, works really well (with NO nasty residue) and has my very favorite, the healing ingredient aloe!

Now, my absolute fav lube is Liquid Silk, but I did not recommend it for you first because it has parabens and you probably won't be looking for a lube with parabens. I love Liquid Silk though, so I deal. I think it's the best because I too have extreme irritation during intercourse. There's always a day of real soreness afterwards and often little tears that are so annoying! So Liquid Silk is thickish and works best for me. I love Hydra, but it just isn't thick enough to totally stop the pain I often get.

Also, people rave about Sliquid, but I personally did not find it helpful as a lubricant. Didn't give enough help for the irritation and pain/tearing I get during intercourse. It was like using water for me, but if you're looking for extremely good ingredients, you may be limited to the organic kind. There are a lot of people who find Sliquid perfectly enough as a lube.

I want to ask, what exactly is the name of the lube you've been using and think is causing your irritation? If you could give us a name, I'm sure most of us could tell you which ingredient is causing the problem. Glycerin? Parabens? Sugar?

Anyways, best of luck to you! Oh, Maximus is a good one too.

Stay away from anything gimicky. No cooling, warming, arousing, etc., since you already had a reaction. Go for natural ones.

As a side note, some people report an increase in infections when they use lubricants that contain glycerine. Be aware of that if you are prone to UTIs or vaginal infections.

I prefer astroglide lube. Sometimes the flavored or warming ones have bothered me.
