I had the opposite effect. When I was on antidepressants earlier this year my sex drive depleted a lot. But now I am free of medication and my sex drive is crazier than ever. I masturbate twice every day. And my libido increases to astronomical heights when I'm ovulating. It's so distracting.

they can, depending on the person. Not everyone is the same though and not EVERY medication out there does the same symptoms. I'm on anti-psychotics/anti-d epressants and only just getting "waves" of increased limbido, but its not very often. Prior to that and the medication I hadn't masturbated for about 6 months along going without sex for the same time.

Wellbutrin is known for increasing sex drive and it has had that effect on me. At least in the sense I think about sex all the time. Far more than when I was a teen, even. Unfortunately, it also seems to extend my down time. I wouldn't necessarily call it ED, but a longer period lacking physical response than I think is normal. Sometimes much longer. The doc says it isn't the WB meds but I've read others complaining about the same - and if I cut back on the meds, it improves. So I THINK about masturbating constantly but actually do it much, much less frequently. Not by choice!

I started with Zoloft and saw no change in libido, but I did have trouble orgasming as others have said. I tried a series of SSRIs (Prozac, Celexa, etc.) before ending up on WB. All but Wellbutrin inhibit serotonin reuptake. WB inhibits reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine, and is a mild psychostimulant, so it is very different from all the other antidepressants.

I'm in your shoes right now. I've been depressed for many years, and finally got treatment for it about 2 years ago and was on Zoloft until about 3 months ago. I switched to Welbutrin 150mg 3 months ago, then upped my dose to 300mg about 3 weeks ago. When I wasn't getting treatment I almost never wanted sex, never orgasmed and masturbated maybe a few times a year. When I was on Zoloft I wanted sex more maybe once a week or every other week but it was still difficult to orgasm and I still rarely masturbated b/c my hubby wanted sex way more often than I did. When I switched to Wel it was a subtle change. I became more interested in sex, libido picked up to once or twice a week and it became a little easier to orgasm and I masturbated maybe once a week? Now that I'm on the 300mg I've noticed the most dramatic difference in the way I feel sexually. I find it's really easy to be in the mood. I haven't felt this way since I was a teenager. I'm up for sex any time my hubby wants it now (He is in Heaven). I masturbate almost daily. When I think back to my "dark years" as I like to refer to them, sex was a chore and an obligation. Being in the mood was so very very difficult. Even when I really tried to be open to sex, because I felt so bad about it I felt numb to stimulus. Like I was trying to turn over a car with a dead battery. Now I feel ready to go at a moments notice, and just thinking about have sex turns me on. I will say that my mood was a bit more stable on Zoloft than it is on Wel, but it is definitely manageable and well worth the increased sex drive.

Is this a problem? lol, i guess i have a high sex drive and i masturbate about once or twice a day if i find the free time but i guess if it's cutting into your day or causing problems you could talk to your doctor.

i had the opposite experience, and had decreased libido and trouble reaching orgasm.
Kinda made me feel bad about it - like a vicious cycle!

I've tried wellbutrin It didn't work well for me at all it caused crazy headaches and joint pain. so I take Ciprilex I get periods during the year where I just want to have sex at least everyday if not multiple times a day for a month or 2 straight. But I sometimes have trouble coming to orgasm so that can be soooooo frustrating, to be sooo horny and can't finish normally.
